10 Ways to Honor Parents According to Islamic Teachings

Islam always teaches a child to honor their parents. This is highly recommended because parents have raised and educated their children since they were small. With great sacrifices, being devoted to parents is also an act mentioned in the holy book of the Quran.
Honoring parents is a primary act that must be performed by someone as a human being. Therefore, friends need to remember this act as a main thing to do for both parents. This recommendation is not difficult to do, but is often forgotten. Let's take a look at how to honor parents to remember together.
1. Speak Kindly
All children must have communicated with their parents. Unfortunately, sometimes unconsciously a child gets emotional when speaking and expressing words. This should be avoided, even saying "Ah," to parents is not allowed in Islam.
2. Practice Good Habits of Parents
Parents always teach something good, one of which is how to behave towards others. For example, when parents always greet the neighbors before going to work, this routine is also good for children to imitate in order to maintain relationships.

When able to earn a living, a child is also encouraged to ensure that their parents have a decent life. There is indeed no obligation to 'repay' the services of parents, but this becomes a virtue for both parents.

7. Help Realize Their Wishes
Parents always provide support to help realize their children's dreams. Therefore, friends should also support the wishes of both parents. As they approach old age, help parents to fulfill their desires.
8. Regularly Keep in Touch
Communication with parents is also very important for friends to do regularly. This becomes one way to always maintain relationships, especially by providing good news that delights both of them.
9. Care for Them in Old Age
Parents have cared for their children since they were small, so children should also care for both parents who have entered old age. Although it is not easy, taking care of parents becomes a noble act that will be rewarded abundantly by Allah.
10. Pray for Them
If you are far from your parents, pray for both of them to always be under Allah's protection. This should also be done when both parents have passed away. A child's prayer will become an act that parents carry with them until the afterlife.
