This is What Distinguishes Productive People from Busy People

If we have always viewed the busyness of activities in the office as something that indicates we are super busy and productive, it turns out that assumption is wrong. Many interpret productive people and busy people as the same thing, whereas these two are clearly different, because those who are productive are not necessarily busy, while those who are busy are not necessarily productive.

The obvious difference is of course in terms of time management and the results of the work. So if you are always busy and spending a lot of time completing office work, don't be too proud. Because your busy time may not necessarily yield extraordinary work. Therefore, you need to understand these 7 differences, so that in the future you can become a productive worker and not just busy.

How they view and set priorities.

How they view and set priorities. A productive person tends to have fewer priorities because they always think and work to realize the priorities that have been set so that everything can be achieved well. In contrast, a busy person tends to have many priorities. So it’s no wonder that in the end, there will be many things they work on, but it may not necessarily yield satisfying results.

Productive people know when to say Yes and when to say No.

They know when to say Yes and when to say No. For productive people, they will know when to say Yes and when to say No. Because productive people can measure their own capabilities and for them, this relates to commitment and consistency. They are also reluctant if at some point they cannot realize what they have committed to. Unlike busy people, they will always say Yes to every request or command that comes their way. Even though in the end, they may not be able to fulfill it.

The way they act and make decisions also affects the work results between productive people and busy people.

Their way of acting and making decisions is very different. In making decisions, busy people are always quicker compared to productive people. Most busy people do not think twice before making decisions and acting; for them, what matters is speed, and if the result is bad, that’s a later concern. This is very different from productive people, who always think twice when making decisions and acting, because productivity is a primary concern, and they are reluctant to waste opportunities and time they have just to be faster.

Productive people will focus on one task and maximize the time they have.

Their focus when doing work is very different. Busy people tend to focus on multitasking, while productive people will focus more on clarity and the results of the actions they take. So, in other words, from the many actions taken by busy people, the results are not optimal with average quality. Whereas from the few actions taken by productive people, the likelihood of success is greater because their work focus is clear.

How they spend time and enjoy life.

How they spend time and enjoy life. Productive people can manage their time well between work and life, thus they have a greater opportunity to relax and enjoy life. Meanwhile, busy people always lose time just to relax because they choose to fill their time with endless busyness. Because they cannot manage and divide time for their own lives.

Productive people do not like to boast about their work activities, but they prefer to show the results of their work.

How they behave towards those around them. As if others need to know, busy people will continuously try to talk about how busy they are and how all their time is consumed only for their work. This is in stark contrast to productive people, who do not like to flaunt their busy activities. Instead, they directly show how the results are to those around them.

The orientation of productive people and busy people in work is very different.

Their orientation in work is very different. A person's orientation in doing work is closely related to motivation and also initial priorities. Thus, it is natural that this will differentiate how the final orientation of a busy person is compared to that of a productive person in work. Busy people have a process-oriented final orientation in work; they will see and show how a correct process in work is. Meanwhile, productive people prioritize how the results of the work done are, whether they are satisfying or not.
