How to fly for beginners is a new and exciting experience. However, everyone has to go through it. Traveling by plane is more enjoyable and relatively faster compared to sea or land travel.

If this is your first time flying, don't be nervous. Find out what you need to master and prepare for your first flight. Here are some tips on how to fly for beginners that you can follow.

Buy from a Trusted Travel Agent

For those of you who are used to shopping online, you can use the services of a trusted travel agent to book your flight, such as Traveloka, Mister Aladin, Tiket, and similar services. Or if you have a friend who works at a travel agency, you can ask for their help to buy the ticket. Don't let your first experience turn into a bad one.

Check Baggage Allowance

If you are bringing a lot of items, check how much baggage allowance is permitted by the airline you are flying with. Each airline has its own rules. Some allow 10 kg, 20 kg, or 30 kg.

Know Where the Departure Terminal Is

Since airports have several terminals, you need to check which departure terminal you will be leaving from. Domestic and international departures are usually separated by terminal. Each airline also has different departure terminals.

Remember Departure Time, Arrive Early

Usually, do not be someone who is late. Unlike taking a train or bus, flying requires you to arrive much earlier. You need to check in and do many other things before you can board the plane. This also takes a considerable amount of time.

For those of you who are flying for the first time and are not used to it, you can arrive earlier, for example, 3 hours before the departure time. It's better to wait at the airport than to miss your flight.

Do Not Bring Prohibited Items

The rules on the plane are very strict. There are many items that can be brought when you take a train or bus, but they are prohibited on a plane. Some examples of prohibited items include batteries, aerosol-containing items, oil, toxic substances, batteries with certain capacities, sprays, and many others. Even opened drinking water is not allowed on the plane. It's better to finish it before boarding.

Prepare Ticket and Identification for Check-in

From home, make sure you bring your ticket or e-ticket and identification such as an ID card, driver's license, or passport for check-in purposes. Place everything in an easily accessible spot.

Wait at the Gate as Instructed by the Airline

Once you have checked in, you will be informed where to wait at the gate. Sometimes there are gate changes, and this is usually announced at the airport. You need to pay attention to every announcement. It might be information regarding your departure.

Follow All Rules

There are many rules on the plane. Follow all these rules for everyone's safety. Do not turn on your phone when the plane is about to take off or land. Mobile signals can interfere with the radio signals used for communication between the pilot and the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) at the airport.

Don't Forget to Collect Your Belongings

When you have landed, disembark carefully and in turn. Don't forget to collect your belongings if you have items stored in the baggage. Wait until you see your bag/item and then take it. Others will usually also be waiting. You can remember who else was on the same flight as you to ensure you are waiting at the correct baggage claim area.

Those are tips for flying for beginners that you can apply. I hope your journey is enjoyable.
