Examples of the Rights of Society as Indonesian Citizens that Have Been Fulfilled

As Indonesian citizens, there are many obligations that must be fulfilled. However, this is certainly accompanied by the fulfillment of rights from the state to the community as citizens. These rights generally apply to all segments of society from various age groups and different social and economic backgrounds.

The rights of Indonesian citizens are the powers to receive what should be done to improve the quality of life. Thus, the community can live under protection and equal treatment. Therefore, the rights and obligations of citizens are also protected by law with binding legal force.

Regulation of the Rights and Obligations of Indonesian Citizens

In order to create a prosperous, just, and thriving society, rights and obligations must be carried out simultaneously. The following rights have been established as rights and obligations regulated in Articles 27 – 34 of the 1945 Constitution.

- Rights and obligations in the economic field

- Rights and obligations in the social and cultural field

- Rights and obligations in the defense and security of the state

- Rights and obligations of citizens in the effort to defend the state

The fulfillment of rights and obligations that run in parallel can create balance for a peaceful and harmonious society.

Rights of Citizens that Have Been Fulfilled

Leaders who are government officials must be able to balance the fulfillment of obligations and their rights. However, in practice, many rights have not yet been fulfilled. At least, the following rights have become the rights of the community as Indonesian citizens that have been fulfilled.

1. Right to security

Protection of the community is a primary requirement that must be fulfilled. This is one of the rights of citizens that has been fulfilled because legal and security apparatus are available to protect the community.

2. Right to adequate health services

Public health is also one of the most important things to maintain, especially to sustain life. The following is the content of the article that regulates health services.

Article 34 paragraph (3)

The state is responsible for providing adequate health service facilities and public service facilities.

3. Right to work

Every citizen also has the right to work decently. This is in line with the Labor Law that continues to be reviewed as regulated in the following article.

Article 27 paragraph (2) of the 1945 Constitution states that every citizen has the right to work and a decent livelihood.

4. Right to protection

In general, the community also has the right to receive protection. This is detailed in a series of legal articles as follows.

Article 28 B paragraph (2)

Every child has the right to survival, growth, and development and has the right to protection from violence and discrimination.

Article 28 D paragraph (1)

Everyone has the right to recognition, guarantee, protection, and legal certainty that is fair and equal treatment before the law.

Article 28 G paragraph (1)

Everyone has the right to personal, family, honor, dignity, and property protection under their control, and has the right to feel safe and protected from threats of fear to do or not do something that is a human right.

Article 28 I paragraph (2)

Everyone is free from discriminatory treatment on any basis and has the right to protection against such discriminatory treatment.

Article 28 I paragraph (4)

Protection, advancement, enforcement, and fulfillment of human rights are the responsibility of the state, especially the government.

Well, those are some rights of the community that have been fulfilled. In general, the various rights mentioned above are important to be considered as insights and can also be fulfilled in everyday life.
