Keluarga Sejahtera Card, Its Benefits, and Solutions If Damaged or Lost

The Prosperous Family Card is a card issued by the government for poor families. Previously, this Prosperous Family Card (KKS) was called the Social Protection Card (KPS). The KPS was previously in cash form, while the KKS is now in non-cash form.
The KKS is issued by several banks that are members of the State-Owned Bank Association (Himbara). So, you may have a KKS issued by one of the following banks: Bank Mandiri, BNI, BRI, and BTN.
This Prosperous Family Card is used to receive assistance from the government, one of which is the Cash Social Assistance (BST) amounting to 500 thousand rupiah. Not only that, there are many benefits that you can receive by having this KKS.
Benefits of Having a Prosperous Family Card (KKS)
Here are some benefits that you can get with the KKS.
- The KKS can store the social assistance quota that you receive from the government.
- The KKS can be used to collect rice assistance and non-cash food assistance (BPNT).
- This card can be used for electronic money, debit or ATM cards that can be used for banking transactions such as withdrawing balances, buying credit, paying bills, and the like.
- In addition, this card can also be used for saving, just like a regular ATM card.
How to Obtain the KKS?
If you do not have this KKS, how can you obtain this card? Here are the steps.
- You must register as a Beneficiary Family (KPM) at the nearest RT or RW where you live.
- Also ask what is needed to register as a KPM from the local RT or RW leader. Fulfill all the requirements.
- After registering, you will receive a notification letter containing the registration technicalities at the designated place.
- The data you have filled out will be processed in parallel and synergistically by Himbara, the village office, and the city/district mayor's office.
- Wait for the verification to be completed.
- Once completed, you will be opened a bank account with Himbara and will receive the KKS.
How to Safely Use the KKS?
Like an ATM card, the KKS must also be kept in a safe place and should not be lost. It would be unfortunate if it gets lost, you would have to take care of it and that takes time. Here are tips for safely using the KKS.
- Never disclose the PIN of this card to anyone. Because if someone knows, they can take your money from the KKS balance without your knowledge.
- Keep it in a safe place. If you lose this KKS, immediately block the card by contacting the relevant bank. For example, if your KKS is issued by Mandiri, contact Mandiri's call center at 14000.
- Change the card PIN periodically so that it is not easily guessed by others.
- Avoid using a PIN that contains your birth date and phone number, as these are easy to guess.
What If the KKS is Damaged or Lost?
There are several steps you need to take if the KKS is damaged (cannot withdraw balance at the ATM) or lost.
- If lost, immediately block the card by contacting the call center.
- However, if it is damaged, there is no need to block the card.
- Visit the bank office that issued the KKS.
- Bring several documents, such as: ID card, proof of KKS ownership (which can be in the form of a letter received when obtaining the KKS for the first time), a loss report from the police (if the KKS is lost), and the damaged KKS.
- The bank will process it. Usually, there will be a fee for a new card. Each bank has different fees. For Mandiri, the fee is 15 thousand rupiah.
That is some information about the KKS. For those of you who feel entitled to receive the KKS but have not received it, please take care of it at the nearest RT/RW.
