Kereta Api Sri Tanjung, Serving 2,120 Passengers Per Day

Sri Tanjung Train is a train service from PT KAI with a route from Lempuyangan Station to Banyuwangi Station and vice versa. This train operates once a day, both from Lempuyangan and from Banyuwangi.

The name of this train is not derived from the acronym of the train's route area, but taken from the name of a character in a folk tale from Banyuwangi. She is Sri Tanjung, a beautiful girl of celestial descent who then plunged into a body of water, making the water fragrant as proof that she did not cheat on her husband.

Carrying More than 2,100 Passengers

With 7 carriages offering economy class service, the seating arrangement of Sri Tanjung Train is in a 3-2 formation facing each other with approximately 742 seats. Each carriage can carry about 106 people.

This train numbered 301-304 can carry more than 2,100 passengers on average per day, or more precisely 2,120 passengers. Its high demand indeed makes Sri Tanjung very busy even though it only operates once a day.

Carriage Transfer

The total of 7 carriages owned by Sri Tanjung does not include the restoration carriage and baggage carriage. The arrangement of these carriages can change at any time. This is because Sri Tanjung serves a round trip route from Lempuyangan to Banyuwangi and does not take a detour.

So, when Sri Tanjung operates from Lempuyangan to Banyuwangi, the head carriage will be moved to the back for the journey from Banyuwangi to Lempuyangan.

Travel Schedule

Sri Tanjung Train operates in the operational area IX Jember and was formerly named Arporuo. Starting its journey in 1995, Sri Tanjung always covers a distance of 612 kilometers one way with an average travel time of 13 hours at a speed of 60 to 90 kilometers per hour.

Due to the pandemic, the travel schedule of Sri Tanjung has changed significantly. As of November 1, 2020, the departure from Lempuyangan will start at 7:20 AM and arrive at Ketapang Station at 8:55 PM. For departures from Ketapang, the train will leave at 6:30 AM and arrive at Klaten Lempuyangan at 7:26 PM.

Ticket Prices

Sri Tanjung Train only provides tickets for economy class, so the ticket prices offered are not too expensive. The fare for this train ranges from Rp88,000 to Rp94,000 depending on the destination city.

This price is in accordance with the facilities provided by this train, which include air conditioning for each carriage, toilets, soundproofing, fire extinguishers, and emergency brakes. Each seat is equipped with a glass lamp and a small table with a power outlet.

Stations Stopped At

With a journey lasting up to 13 hours, the Sri Tanjung Train certainly covers a long distance. Automatically, the number of stations it stops at is quite many, which is more than 30 stations.

If the journey starts from Banyuwangi Station, the stations stopped at include Karangasem, Rogojampi, Temuguruh, Kalisetail, Sumber Wadung, Glenmore, Kalibaru, Kalisat, Jember, Rambipuji, Tanggul, Probolinggo, up to Klaten Station, and of course Lempuyangan Station.

For journeys starting from Lempuyangan Station, Sri Tanjung will even pass through Curahmalang Station, which is not passed on the opposite route. However, for the journey from Banyuwangi, Sri Tanjung will stop at Geneng Station and Tanggulangin Station for crossing purposes.
