KIP College: Smart Card for the Future of Education in Indonesia

KIP college is a tuition assistance card specifically for high school graduates and equivalent who have above-average academic ability and are financially disadvantaged. So, the government has good intentions, my friends, to help those who want to continue their education to a higher level but are financially constrained.
To find out how to register and the requirements, let's take a look at the following explanation! Moreover, it is still the new student registration period, so various information regarding KIP college is very much needed, right?
Registration Requirements
As the initial purpose of the KIP college program, the requirement to obtain this card is of course to submit proof that the individual is indeed financially disadvantaged. This will later be verified by checking the participant's NIK registered in the population system and having a Family Welfare Card.
In addition to NIK, prospective KIP college holders must also have a valid NISN and NPSN. Academic scores during high school must also be good, evidenced by documents such as diplomas or SKHUN that have been legalized by the school.
And, most importantly, the individual must be confirmed to have been accepted at one of the universities with an accredited program of study A or B.
Registration Procedure
High school graduates in 2021 can register to obtain a KIP college card by creating an account on the kip-kuliah.kemdikbud.go.id page or through the KIP College Mobile Apps that can be downloaded from the Play Store or App Store.
Enter the NIK, NISN, NPSN, and an active email address as the initial data to be filled in. Next, the registration number and access code will be sent to the email, which can be used to log in to the KIP college SIM.
After successfully logging into the registered account, students fill in all the selected data, such as the name of the university and the entry pathway taken. If accepted at the chosen university, the final step is verification.
KIP College Registration Schedule 2021
Quoted from the kip-kuliah.kemdikbud.go.id website, the registration for KIP college accounts is currently ongoing, my friends, which has been open since February 8, 2021, and will close on October 31, 2021.
This registration has stages according to the pathway taken to enter the desired university, namely SNMPTN, SNMPN, UTBK-SBMPTN, and SBMPN.
Only for State Universities?
If someone says that KIP college is specifically for state universities, that is not true, my friends. This has also been denied by the government that private universities also accept this shortcut card.
There are nearly 16,000 universities registered in the KIP college program, which are certainly spread throughout Indonesia. These tens of thousands of universities consist of both state and private universities with various study programs.
Transfer of Quota for Islamic Campus Students
Not only regarding private universities, which often raises the question of whether they receive a quota for KIP college, questions about the quota for Islamic campus students are also not very clear.
If previously the KIP college quota for Islamic campus students was managed by the Ministry of Religion, starting from May 11, 2021, through a Virtual Coordination Meeting between Dikti Kemenristek and Kemenag, the quota for Islamic campus students is now directly managed by Kemenristek.
This is good news, my friends. This is because previously the quota allocation for religious universities was only 3% compared to the quota for all universities, this year the registration method has been standardized, thus increasing the quota.
That is the information about KIP college that you can learn, my friends. The Ministry of Education and Culture always welcomes questions that will be answered accurately if you have any difficulties or confusion regarding this program!
So, rather than just assuming, you can ask directly at the Ministry of Education and Culture's address at Menristek RI Building C, 13th Floor, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Senayan. Or send an email to kip.kuliah@kemdikbud.go.id or you can also reach out through their social media on Instagram: @puslapdik_dikbud.
