Solo has become the best tourist destination city in Central Java. How could it not be, this city rich in Javanese culture also has a variety of wealth including its culinary offerings. Here are 25 typical Solo dishes that you must try.

1. Selat Solo

Selat is a typical Solo dish that has been influenced by European culture. Europeans refer to this dish as Salad, but because the people of Solo have a strong Javanese accent, the name changed to Selat. 

Selat itself is a typical Solo snack consisting of pieces of steak, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, and a stew sauce.

2. Soto Kwali

Soto is a typical Indonesian dish found in various regions of the country. In Solo City, there is a regional version of soto. This soto is cooked using a clay pot, giving it a more distinctive and rich aroma.

3. Serabi

Not only heavy meals, Solo also has traditional culinary offerings that must be tried, namely Serabi. 

Even in this modern era, serabi cakes are timeless and can easily be found in various places. Serabi is made from rice flour, salt, and pandan.

4. Tahu Kupat

If ketupat is identical to food served during Eid, in Solo you can find this culinary dish anytime. Tahu Kupat is included in the 25 typical Solo dishes consisting of many ingredients such as ketupat, white tofu, cabbage, bean sprouts, and fresh sweet soy sauce. 

5. Bakso Solo

6. Tengkleng Kambing

At first glance, this typical Solo culinary dish looks like regular goat curry. However, Tengkleng Kambing has a thinner broth.

7. Sego Liwet

9. Sate Buntel

11. Tahok

12. Pecel Solo

Pecel Solo uses various vegetables that you may not find in other regions. The vegetables used include Kenikir, White Turi Flowers, Banana Hearts, and many more. 

13. Soto Gading

14. Brambang  Asem

Brambang Asem is also a traditional dish that is still sold in several corners of Solo City. This food is made from sweet potatoes combined with spicy shallots.

15. Lenjongan

This traditional food is actually a combination of several snacks such as Tiwul, Getuk, Cenil, Sawut, and Klepon.
