Initially, Rumah Gemuk was designated as a wedding venue by the owner. About two months after opening, the owner, Jennifer Sumia, even held her wedding party at Rumah Gemuk. It was the first wedding event at Rumah Gemuk.

Rumah Gemuk is located at Jalan Drupadi Number 2, Desa Candikuning, Bedugul Bali. If you are in Denpasar, Rumah Gemuk can be reached in about 1.5 hours. Located in a highland area, Rumah Gemuk certainly has its own privileges as the air is very cool and fresh, making it suitable to be combined with the design of this place.
This restaurant has a concept of a garden inside a glass house. The building has two floors and is fully walled and roofed with glass, allowing visitors to see the outside view from inside. Its strategic location offers a view of the hills and the calming Beratan Lake, which is very Instagrammable.
Perfect for Picnics
Although initially designated as a wedding venue, Rumah Gemuk eventually opened to the public as a picnic-themed restaurant, but food can also be ordered a la carte. The first floor is specifically for those who choose the picnic set as mats are provided for sitting on the green grass, while the second floor has seating like a typical restaurant.
There are two picnic package options, namely for two and four people, suitable for ordering if visiting with a partner for a relaxed dine-in or with family. For the picnic package for two, you only need to pay Rp240,000 and will receive 2 main dishes, 2 savory and sweet snack menus, and 2 drinks. For the picnic package for four, visitors will be charged Rp450,000 and will receive 4 main dishes, 4 savory and sweet snacks, 4 drink choices, and a free bottle of mineral water.
There is no entrance fee to Rumah Gemuk as this place is a restaurant. However, the restaurant requires a minimum order, both for general restaurant visitors and those who want to use Rumah Gemuk as a photoshoot location for pre-wedding, catalogs, and others. Rumah Gemuk offers a variety of menu options, ranging from caffeinated drinks to heavy meals.
Guidelines when visiting Rumah Gemuk
Rumah Gemuk opens at 10:00 AM. However, the most recommended visiting time is between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM as the air is cooler and the view of Beratan Lake is still clear.
This restaurant is pet-friendly, but visitors must pay attention to cleanliness. Do not make a mess or dirty the place, disturbing other visitors.
The garden concept of Rumah Gemuk certainly features beautiful floral and grassy decorations. Therefore, visitors are prohibited from stepping on or picking the plants there. If you want to take photos, feel free, but do not disturb the comfort of other visitors.
Rumah Gemuk is indeed classified as a semi-fancy restaurant with a diverse menu ranging from oriental, western, to traditional.
