Obey the Regulations, Use a Permit Letter to Enter and Exit Jakarta

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused regional lockdowns everywhere. To prevent more people from being exposed to the virus, the government has implemented policies to stay at home, not to travel, especially out of town. The high number of Covid patients has led the government to tighten its policies even further. Anyone who wants to enter or leave another city must meet a number of new requirements to be allowed to go. The exit/entry permit for Jakarta is a valid document used by someone when entering or leaving the city of Jakarta.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has imposed requirements on individuals or businesses to travel in and out of Jakarta by requiring an Exit/Entry Permit (SIKM). The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has collaborated with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) to carry out electronic certification (Certification Authority) to ensure efficient and secure information exchange.
For those whose mobility is only within the city, this may not be a problem, but it becomes an issue if you have a job that requires you to travel out of town. For example, due to strict regulations, anyone who wants to enter or leave the city of Jakarta needs a legal permit. Without a permit, the officers on duty will not allow you to enter Jakarta. If you really need to travel in and out of Jakarta, you need to know the following steps.
How to create an exit/entry permit for Jakarta
Before making the letter, there are several required documents that you must have first.
- Visit the site corona.jakarta.go.id to fill out the form and complete the requirements
- Request a recommendation letter from the RT and RW where you live
- Request a health certificate from a health center or health institution with a stamp attached
- A letter of explanation from your workplace
- Photocopy of ID card or other identification
Once you have the documents, you can obtain the permit by following these steps.
Here is a tutorial for filling out the SIKM process on the corona.jakarta.go.id website.
- On the corona.jakarta.go.id site, select the Jakarta exit/entry permit menu
- Then select manage SIKM
- Applicants will be asked to agree to an agreement where criminal sanctions will be imposed if they falsify the SIKM.
- Fill out the application form provided, starting from identity data, guarantor/responsible party data, and travel nature description data
- Upload the documents you already have
- If you feel the documents are complete, you can click submit form
- Print the document
In managing the SIKM, residents are not charged a fee, meaning it is free. If there are any fees charged, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government urges residents to report through the JAKI (Jakarta Kini) application or the Quick Response Community Complaint channel. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government recommends that residents manage the SIKM online using a laptop or personal computer (PC) to facilitate the document upload process and speed up the process.
Always Tighten Health Protocols by Maintaining 5M
Even if you eventually obtain the exit/entry permit for Jakarta, this does not mean you can neglect your surroundings. In fact, when traveling outside the area, health protocols must be even stricter, especially the 5M, what are they?
1. Washing Hands
Washing hands frequently helps maintain cleanliness. Hands are one of the skin surfaces that touch many other objects, which may carry the Covid-19 virus. Wash your hands with soap and running water for 20 seconds.
2. Wearing Masks
Masks are the first line of defense against the Covid-19 virus. At this time, with many variants of the virus mutating, health experts recommend wearing double masks, that is, wearing a medical mask underneath and a cloth mask on top.
3. Maintaining Distance
Covid-19 is transmitted through droplets found in saliva. Due to the small size of the virus droplets, they can easily be inhaled by those nearby. Keeping a distance is important to prevent droplets from flying and landing on our bodies, thus being inhaled by us.
4. Avoiding Crowds
Crowds cause the transmission of the Covid-19 virus to spread further. New clusters of virus transmission are often caused by the presence of mass gatherings. It is better to move activities online than to increase the risk of exposure to the virus.
5. Reducing Mobility
Stay-at-home is key to preventing the virus from spreading further. By staying at home, you reduce the intensity of meeting other people, which automatically reduces the likelihood of being exposed to the virus.
You need to know that not everyone is allowed to obtain the exit/entry permit. If it relates to work matters, only certain fields are allowed to continue traveling. These fields include health, food supplies, energy, communication, finance, logistics, basic services, and daily needs. Outside of these fields, traveling out of town is not permitted. Additionally, this permit is also granted to residents who need to travel in or out of DKI Jakarta due to emergency conditions, such as illness or the death of a family member.
