Tips for a Winter Vacation in South Korea, Anti-Cold!
Living in Indonesia, which is a tropical country with only dry and rainy seasons, of course, we want to know how it feels to experience winter, right? Seeing snow and finally being able to wear thick woolen clothes without overheating is certainly an exciting new experience.
Well, when you decide to vacation during the winter months, you need to have different preparations compared to the summer to spring months. This is because the weather is much colder than in Indonesia, making you more susceptible to illness.
You can check out some winter vacation tips in South Korea below for your preparation!
1. Bring Thick Clothes
Thick clothing should definitely be the first thing on the list of winter vacation tips in South Korea. Long johns, sweaters, coats, heattech pants, gloves, layered socks, hats, and ear covers should be well prepared. Especially if you want to go on vacation in December/January to see the snowfall.
You only need to bring one or two pieces of long johns and heattech pants. For coats and sweaters, just bring one so that your luggage is not too heavy.
2. Stock Up on Hot Packs
The next winter vacation tip in South Korea is to stock up on hot packs to warm your hands and feet so you don't feel too cold. These hot packs can be purchased at several convenience stores. A set usually contains 7-8 hot packs, so they can be used for several days.
3. Don't Get Dehydrated
Don't let the excuse of not wanting to go to the bathroom or not feeling thirsty be a reason not to drink, okay? Cold weather indeed makes the body not feel thirsty, so when the body lacks fluids, it doesn't feel too noticeable.
However, the body certainly has its own threshold for feeling tired when it lacks fluids. If this happens, you can become dehydrated, which can be dangerous for your health. So, during your winter vacation in South Korea, always remember to drink.
Unlike in Indonesia, where the price of drinking water is not too expensive, it's quite the opposite there. The most economical tip is to bring a tumbler and fill it with water when at your accommodation and take it with you while sightseeing. Usually, tap water in public places is drinkable, so you can refill your tumbler for free.
4. Bring Personal Medications
The atmosphere and air during winter are certainly different from the rainy season air like in Indonesia. If you are not used to it, you will quickly catch a cold or even get winded. Being sick during a vacation is certainly uncomfortable, right?
So, the next winter vacation tip in South Korea is to bring personal medications. Bringing some Tolak Angin from Indonesia is also fine to drink when your body feels uncomfortable, as it can help warm you up.
5. Don't Overexert Yourself
When your body feels cold, it's best to keep moving to stay warm. However, this should not be misunderstood as pushing your body to the point of exhaustion.
Winter actually makes the body more susceptible to illness. Engage in activities moderately, such as walking and having fun with family, and don't forget to eat.
When you feel tired, rest. Don't force yourself to stay up too late just because you're on vacation. Sleep and rest when there are no activities to do so that you have energy left for fun the next day.
Those are the winter vacation tips in South Korea that you can apply when you decide to vacation from December to February. The main point is, don't forget to always take care of your health. It wouldn't be fun to be on vacation and end up sick instead of happy.
