The journey of Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) began in 1973 when Astra was granted permission to import Daihatsu vehicles into Indonesia. In 1976, PT Astra International became the sole importer and official distributor of Daihatsu vehicles in Indonesia.

Since then, other Daihatsu companies have been established in Indonesia, including PT Daihatsu Indonesia (DI) for steel plate production (1978), PT Daihatsu Engine Manufacturing Indonesia (DEMI) as a machinery factory (1983), and PT Nasional Astra Motor (NAM) which replaced PT Astra International as the sole agent and importer of Daihatsu vehicles (1987).

In 1992, PT Daihatsu Indonesia (DI), PT Daihatsu Engine Manufacturing (DEMI), and PT National Astra Motor (NAM) merged to form a new business entity, PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM). To this day, ADM continues to innovate to improve mobility and connectivity in people's lives.
