Rocky Hybrid Appears at the Daihatsu Booth at GIIAS 2024

TANGERANG (17/7): Daihatsu demonstrates its commitment to showcasing cutting-edge and environmentally friendly technologies. This commitment is evident through the appearance of the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid with its highest variant, the Premium G HEV 1.2L, at the GIIAS event taking place from July 18 to 28, 2024, at ICE BSD City, Tangerang.
The Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid employs e-Smart Hybrid technology and has been sold in the domestic automotive market in Japan to date. The Rocky Hybrid uses a series system, meaning the engine power is used to generate electricity, which is then used to drive the main motor.
The Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid features a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder engine (WA-VEX type) with a compact design, ideal for daily activities. It provides responsive acceleration, optimal fuel efficiency, and a competitive price in its class.
“Through the momentum of GIIAS 2024, we are introducing a range of low-emission vehicles, including the Rocky Hybrid, which has been marketed in Japan to date. The Rocky Hybrid uses a 1.2L engine with a series hybrid system, capable of achieving optimal fuel efficiency of up to 28 kilometers per liter,” said Yasushi Kyoda, President Director of PT Astra Daihatsu Motor.
In terms of technical design, the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid features a compact mechanism, where the Transaxle (front-wheel-drive transmission) includes a transmission mechanism consisting of a motor generator (MG) as the driving force, gear reduction, and differential mechanisms. The vehicle's weight is also reduced due to the use of a compact lithium-ion battery with a high energy density of 4.3 Ah.
In terms of safety and security features, the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid is equipped with various active safety systems, including 19 different active safety functions, warning and braking functions against potential collisions, pedestrian detection, and traffic sign detection for "maximum speed" and "stop" warnings.
The Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid also features electric parking brakes and ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control), making long-distance driving more comfortable. It also includes the CTA (Cornering Trace Assist) function, which helps stabilize the vehicle when cornering by applying braking to the wheels to prevent them from leaving the lane and ensuring safety and comfort during driving.
In terms of options, the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid is available in two variants in Japan: X HEV and Premium G HEV.
As known, Daihatsu is showcasing a total of 14 units at GIIAS 2024, including one electric concept vehicle, Daihatsu me:MO; one Japan Domestic Market Rocky e-Smart Hybrid; two modified models as inspiration, Rocky Crossfield and Terios Graphite; one new Xenia ADS X variant; one Sigra made from cardboard as an inspiration for recycled materials; and eight other attractive models, such as Xenia, Ayla, Sigra, Terios, Rocky, and Sirion.
