Daihatsu Collaborates with Local Modifiers, Presents Exclusive One-of-a-Kind Cars in Indonesia

(TANGERANG, July 31, 2025): Daihatsu once again presented an exciting surprise at GIIAS 2025. In line with this year's booth theme, "Happy from the Start," Daihatsu collaborated with local modifiers, namely Gofar Hilman and NMAA (National Modificator & Aftermarket Association), under the title "Happiness for You," resulting in three special modified units, each a one-of-a-kind creation in Indonesia.

These three units include the Gran Max Taft Guy, Ayla Retro Future, and Gran Max City Pop. These three vehicles are not merely works of art or car modifications, but also reflections of the unique, energetic, and expressive lifestyles of contemporary Indonesian society. All three cars boast captivating designs with distinct modification concepts.

Conceptually, the Gran Max Taft Guy unit embraces an off-road style with exterior modifications encompassing the engine hood, headlamps, grille, front bumper, front turn signals, lower grille cover, turbofan turbo bastard wheels, front fenders (left/right), and a roof rack. Rear modifications include an iconic wing mirror perfect for road trips, R16 turbofan turbo bastard wheels, and the addition of a spare tire at the rear to emphasize its robust impression. For the interior, modifications were made to the seats, featuring matching colors and designed for comfort.

The Ayla Retro Future emerges as a retro-modern city car that blends classic nuances while maintaining a futuristic character through comprehensive changes. At the front, modifications include the engine hood, headlamps, front bumper, fog lamps (left/right), front turn signals, lamp covers, front fenders, and notably, eye-catching R15 turbodisc turbo bastard wheels. Furthermore, changes can be seen in the GT Radial Champiro tires, rear turn signals, rear bumper, reverse lamps, lamp covers, rear combination lamps, and wing. For the interior, changes consist of more chic and charming seat colors with a blend of orange and mint, along along with the inclusion of an air suspension system (airsus airgen).

Similar to the previous two cars, the Gran Max City Pop also features modifications to both its interior and exterior. The car's interior is brown, enriched with distinctive Daihatsu Hijet elements, while the front exterior modifications include the front turn signals, bumper, engine hood, bottom grille, upper grille bracket, front bumper, and headlamps. Rear modifications involve the front fender, turbofan turbo bastard wheels, left/right side skirts, R16 turbofan turbo bastard wheels, GT Radial Savero SUV 215/65 R16 tires, lamp covers, rear combination lamps, rear bumper, tailgate handle add-on, and rear brake lights. This car is dedicated as D'MASIV's travel companion in their creative work.

Daihatsu chose the Gran Max and Ayla models as the basis for modification because both are customer-favorite models that have proven successful in the market. The Gran Max has recorded sales of over 870,000 units since its first launch in 2007, making it the most popular semi-commercial vehicle in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the Ayla, as Daihatsu's first LCGC, has the most affordable car price and has sold over 315,000 units since 2013. Through this collaboration, Daihatsu aims to spread happiness not only in the passenger car segment but also in commercial vehicles.

The modification process for these three cars also involved NMAA. As a national-scale modification association, NMAA leveraged its network and resources, including over 8,000 SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) that are part of it. A significant 85% of the modification work on these units involved local collaborators, serving as a tangible form of support for the growth of the automotive creative industry in Indonesia. Beyond aesthetics, modifications also strengthen the character and lifestyle of car owners. Daihatsu is seen as an affordable, highly flexible car brand that can be adapted to various needs.

Specifically, two of these models, the Ayla Retro Future and Gran Max Taft Guy, can be owned by the public through special programs. The Ayla Retro Future can be obtained through a Dance Challenge with prizes, featuring the song "Bahagia Sejak Pertama," on the official @daihatsuind account from July 17 to August 17, 2025. Meanwhile, the Gran Max Taft Guy can be won by customers who purchase any Daihatsu unit during the "Gebyar Merdeka" program, running from July 1 to September 30, 2025. The winners of both cars will be announced on October 12, 2025, at the peak event of the Indonesia Modification & Lifestyle Expo (IMX).
