When driving all day, it is certain that you will encounter dust and dirt on the road, as well as face all kinds of weather, making the car look dirty. Therefore, maintaining the cleanliness of the car after driving is very important so that the car continues to look shiny and clean at all times.

For some people who have enough time to wash their beloved car themselves, it is certainly more enjoyable. Besides saving expenses, it also counts as exercise. But don't let washing the car become a 'disaster' just because you did something that shouldn't be done. There are things that must be done and should be avoided when washing a car. 

1. When is the right time to wash the car 

After the car has been exposed to rainwater and stubborn dirt such as mud splashes or animal waste, it is best to wash it immediately. If not, you can wash the car at intervals of once a week.  Never let dirt and dust accumulate on the car for weeks, even until the dirt hardens, as this will greatly affect the car's paint. 

2. Cleaners or soaps that should be used

Never use just any soap or shampoo to wash the car. To maintain the color of the car's paint and remove stubborn dirt, it is best to use a high-quality car soap. It is fine to use dish soap, but only for the engine, undercarriage, and wheels, as the strong abrasive nature of dish soap can cause the paint to fade and wear off quickly.

3. When washing

Try not to wash the car in hot places or where it is exposed to direct sunlight. Water sprayed on the car's surface will dry faster and leave water spots on the car's body. 

Also, be careful when using a sponge, as if the direction of scrubbing the car with the sponge is irregular, the car may be prone to scratches. Then rinse thoroughly and ensure no soap residue is left to prevent it from damaging the paint. 

4. What to pay attention to when drying the car

Do not get into the habit of drying the car with any cloth. It is best to dry the car immediately after washing with a clean, lint-free cloth, such as a microfiber towel specifically for drying cars. You can also use two towels in both hands to speed up the drying process.
