5 Ways to Turn On Your Car's Headlights for Safe Driving on the Road

10 April 2025

One important thing in driving is the front car lights. The front car lights are used to help visibility while driving, especially when driving in the rain or at night. You need to know how to turn on this simple yet important feature.

5 Ways to Turn On the Front Car Lights Feature

Here are 5 ways to turn on the front car lights feature.

1. Find the Front Light Control

There is usually no standard place for the light panel for all cars, but there are several points commonly used by car manufacturers. The light panel is usually located on the dashboard panel or the control stick on the steering wheel.

2. Identify the Off Button Position

Pay attention to the symbol that marks this position and its location on the rotary button, whether it is at the top or bottom. Usually, the "off" position is located far left or at the bottom of the rotation. This position symbol is generally marked with an open or empty circle or the word off.

3. Turn the Button to the Right Symbol

The high or main lights can be turned on manually by rotating the end of the lever. Hold the rotary button with your thumb and index finger, then turn it until you reach the correct setting. These settings will be marked with different symbols. Each time you reach a new setting, you will hear a "click" sound.

4. Check the Result

If you are unsure, you can check the condition of your lights in two ways. You can ask someone else to stand in front of the car while it is stopped, and don't forget to open the window. So that you can hear if your lights are on. However, if you are alone, you can park your car in front of a garage or wall, turn the front light rotary button to each position, and observe how the front lights shine. Is there a light reflection or not? If there is, it is confirmed that your lights are on.

5. Know When You Should Use the Front Lights

You should also pay attention to when you turn on the lights. At night and during the day, you can use regular front lights when there are other cars around you, but use high beams when the road is empty at night. Additionally, you can use the lights in bad weather conditions. For example, during rain, fog, and storms. Do not use high beams because their harsh light and reflections can dazzle and endanger other drivers.
