A tradition of going home is inseparable from the life of every family. Gathering with beloved family after a year of living in a foreign land is a happiness in itself.

Well, for friends who are planning to go home using a private car, you definitely need more preparation, from the condition of the car to the physical condition of the driver.

Preparation for Your Homecoming Journey

It is advisable to perform several checks beforehand to avoid unwanted incidents. Let's pay attention to several parts of the car that you need to check before embarking on your homecoming journey:

1. Check the Engine Oil

Make sure the engine oil has sufficient volume. Check the engine oil volume by inspecting the level on the dipstick. The oil level should be between the L and F marks and should be slightly below the F level line; if it's low, add enough. Ensure that the usage limit (kilometers) of your oil is still sufficient for the distance to be traveled.

2. Radiator Water

Make sure your car's radiator water is full and the reservoir water is at the level mark or not too full. Also, check the condition of the radiator hose and the connecting hose to the reservoir.

If you find a hose that is bulging or cracked, it is best to replace it to avoid a hose burst on the road. Also, ensure that the hose connections to the engine and radiator are tight and not leaking. If you are unsure about checking it yourself, it is better to take it to your trusted workshop.

3. Condition of the Fuel Filter and Hose

Make sure that the fuel hose is not cracked or leaking. Also, ensure that the fuel filter is not clogged. For those of you who regularly perform periodic maintenance on your vehicle, the fuel filter is usually clean.

4. Check the Battery Condition

Check the battery terminal bolts and clean the battery terminals from dirt or corrosion. Also, check the battery water level. If it is low, add pure battery water to the appropriate level to maintain the quality of the car battery.

5. Tires and Brakes

Worn-out tires will experience a decrease in grip on the road. Check the condition of the tires both physically and the tire pressure. The normal tire pressure for cars is around 30-34 psi.

Also, check the brake fluid level. If it is below the minimum level, check for possible leaks. Inspect the hoses, master cylinder, and check for wetness inside the rim as a sign of wheel cylinder leakage. Ensure that the braking system works well.

6. Lights

Check the overall condition of your car lights. Make sure all lights function and illuminate normally. If any lights are out or in poor condition, it is advisable to replace them immediately to prevent car lights from failing during the journey.

7. Wipers

This is very useful when driving in the rainy season. Make sure the car windshield wipers function well. If you are still unsure about the correct inspection method, it is better to take your car to an official workshop or your trusted car workshop.

It is advisable to service your car at the nearest Daihatsu workshop to ensure a safer and more comfortable journey. So, if you feel all your car preparations are sufficient, don't forget to prepare your physical condition for a long and tiring journey.
