Rust that attacks components is always an enemy for car owners. Because if parts made of iron are affected by this virus, they will easily get damaged and spread to other parts. 

For example, if the door lock handle push lever of the Daihatsu Xenia car is rusty. The problem that arises with the rear door is that it won't open even though the lever in the cabin has been pulled. If that happens, you have no choice but to open it using the ignition key.

Rust can appear if you are lazy to check and maintain this rear door lock handle push lever. Moreover, this device is often exposed to rainwater even though it is directly drained through the drainage hole. It is no wonder if the drainage hole is clogged with dirt, rainwater deposits will cause rust and can very likely eat away at that part of the device until it causes more severe damage.

"If you want the rear door lock push lever to last and be free from rust, it's best to regularly check and clear the water drainage hole so that there are no rainwater deposits. To make it easier, the way is to remove the lock housing from its seat first," said Fajar Jaka Mursena, a technician at Eka Auto workshop in Pamulang, South Tangerang.

Now, if you want to do it yourself, the first step you need to take is to open the rear door first. Then proceed to remove the 2 bolts securing the rear door lock housing using a 10 socket wrench, before disconnecting the pull cable from its housing.

Once it is free, the last step is to check the drainage hole. Make sure the hole is free of dirt so that rainwater does not accumulate in that space. Use a soft brush to clean it to avoid hard friction on the body. Easy, right?
