Volcanic ash not only has a negative impact on health but also causes losses for residents who own motor vehicles, especially cars. Like the eruption disaster of Mount Agung, which spread volcanic ash across almost the entire island of Bali.

You should know that volcanic ash contains a very thick sulfuric acid that can cause corrosion, damage paint, and can scratch your car's glass!

How to Clean Your Car from Volcanic Dust

If not cleaned quickly, it will cause worse conditions for your beloved vehicle, of course, you don't want that, right? Therefore, for those of you whose cars have been affected by volcanic ash, let's take a look at the following ways to clean it from your car.

1. Rinse with Water Carefully

The first thing you need to do is ensure that the volcano is no longer erupting and is not spreading ash again. If you feel it is safe, you can start spraying water on your car.

However, to reduce the risk from the friction between the ash and the car paint, you need to be smart in adjusting the water pressure you use.

Do not rub the surface of the car with any type of cloth, especially rough fabric. Because volcanic ash has a texture that can damage the paint and glass layers of your car. So, just go slowly, the important thing is to get it clean.

2. Increase Water Pressure

Check the tires and the undercarriage of your car; to clean dirt in this area, it is best to increase the water pressure on the hose to make it easier for you to clean off the remaining dirt. You also need to be patient and meticulous in cleaning the narrow gaps in the lower area of the car.

3. Use Car Shampoo

Since volcanic ash contains acid, prepare the shampoo you usually use to wash your car. A good vehicle shampoo should have a neutral pH level, which also helps maintain the quality of the car paint.

After you feel that the remnants of volcanic ash have been removed from your vehicle, repeat this step once again with the same shampoo and pay attention to the gaps in the windows, where volcanic ash may still remain.

Once finished, rinse the vehicle using moderate water pressure and use a clean cloth to wipe the wet areas.

4. Cover with a Vehicle Cover

If you have never had a vehicle cover before, now is the right time to buy one. Once it is clean, the best thing is to take good care of it. You wouldn't want to clean it exhaustively only to have it get dirty again, right?

A vehicle cover serves a good function to protect the vehicle from dust and other dirt that may come. So, those are some tips from Daihatsu Friends for cleaning your car from volcanic ash, happy trying!
