Oplet

Fans of 'Si Doel' are surely familiar with this historical transportation tool. In its time, this vehicle was a strong competitor to bemo. Oplet itself is considered superior compared to bemo, as it has several advantages. Starting from its much better engine, as well as its larger passenger capacity.

Angguna

Residents of Surabaya living around 1998 are surely familiar with this transportation tool. In appearance, angguna has a combination of a pick-up and an angkot. At its peak, this transportation tool was available in up to 1000 units. Now, only 10 units remain and are no longer in operation.

Helicak

This one was once popular in Jakarta, especially during the time Ali Sadikin was still the governor. Helicak itself is an acronym for helicopter and becak. The name was taken because the shape of this vehicle is a combination of a becak and a helicopter.

Unlike becak, this transportation tool is operated with a machine. Another characteristic is that the passenger seats are designed like the front part of a helicopter.

Double-Decker Bus

In the past, Indonesia actually used double-decker buses like those abroad. At that time, double-decker buses were available in several cities, such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Solo, and Semarang. This historical transportation tool operated from 1968 until the 1990s.

Bayu Aircraft

Besides double-decker buses, Indonesia actually had its own aircraft. The Bayu aircraft is what is meant. This aircraft, also known as Bayu Indonesia Air, operated in the 1990s.

Currently, the Bayu aircraft is commonly used by the upper-middle class. Today, the Bayu aircraft can no longer be operated as its airline license has been revoked.

Lori Wagon

This transportation tool once thrived in Aceh in the 1930s. The shape of this vehicle is similar to a becak, but a bit simpler in terms of the vehicle. At that time, Lori Wagon was commonly used by the indigenous people and the Dutch.

Cart

Before the rise of motorized vehicles, Indonesia had many animal-powered vehicles. The cart is one of them. This transportation tool uses buffalo or cow power as its driving force.

Carts were used during the Dutch colonial era to carry harvests and building materials. At that time, carts were better known as ossenkar.

Tram

This is a historical transportation tool that was once a mainstay during the Dutch colonial era, especially in the Batavia (Jakarta) area. The main function of the tram was to assist the mobility of the people of Batavia at that time.

The tram underwent several developments, from initially using horse power to eventually using electric power. The use of trams began in 1881 and lasted until 1960.
