The condition of brake failure can be one of the causes of accidents that occur on the road. This is certainly very dangerous as it can threaten lives, not just one person but also other road users. 

Therefore, you need to recognize the causes of brake failure so that you can anticipate and perform maintenance on the brakes.

1. Damaged Brake Piston

One of the causes of brake failure is due to a damaged brake piston. A problematic or damaged piston can cause it to be unable to transmit hydraulic pressure, which comes from the brake pedal to press the brake pads. This can result in suboptimal brake performance and cause the brakes to fail. 

2. Torn, Worn, or Damaged Master Cylinder Piston Seal

Inside the piston part of the braking system, there are several components, one of which is the piston seal made of brake fluid and heat-resistant material. 

The piston seal serves to prevent brake fluid leakage and functions to pull the piston back when the braking process has occurred.

An old, worn, or damaged piston seal can cause brake failure, as the piston component itself does not work optimally. 

This will directly impact the brakes, where the entire braking system becomes suboptimal. It can even cause the brakes to fail and make it difficult to control the steering.

3. Brake Fluid Depleted

Another cause of brake failure is due to depleted brake fluid. This occurs because the power transmission in the braking system, which is performed by the brake fluid, does not function optimally. 

To address this issue, you must regularly check the quality of the brake fluid. Do not let the brake fluid run out or use poor quality fluid.

4. Leaking Braking System

If there is a leak in the braking system, this can be a cause of brake failure. This issue is the most fatal and dangerous, so you must be vigilant. 

Generally, the leak occurs in the master brake, which is why regular car maintenance is very important for you to perform.

5. Vapour Lock

Vapour lock is a condition where brake fluid evaporates due to excessively high temperatures and heat. This can cause the brakes to fail because the brake fluid will boil, creating vapor or air bubbles in the braking system. 

6. Worn Brake Pads

The level of wear on the brake pads will affect the performance of the braking system itself. If the brake pads have a high level of wear, they can become one of the causes of brake failure, which can endanger lives. 

Before the brake pads become worn, it is advisable to replace them with new components at the nearest workshop. The braking system consists of various complex components, all of which must be properly maintained and cared for. 

Because even one damaged part will affect the overall performance of the braking system, it can even cause the brakes to fail and make it difficult for you to control the speed of the vehicle.
