1. Mist

Usually, the mist symbol is located at the very top of the wiper control lever. To activate this lever from the OFF position, you need to slide the lever upwards once.

Then, when the lever is released, it will return to the OFF position. Generally, Mist is only used when there are raindrops on the front glass.

2. Intermittent

Intermittent is usually written with the symbol INT. This INT mode is used when there are raindrops far away on the front glass, but if only wiped with the wiper in slow mode, those drops may not disappear.

To operate the wiper in this mode, you only need to slide the wiper lever from the OFF position to the INT symbol. Later, the wiper will immediately enter this mode and provide several wipes.

When the wiper is in this mode, it will sweep the front glass at certain intervals. For some cars, it is usually equipped with a feature to adjust the INT speed.

The characteristic of this adjustment is that the triangle symbol is divided into several boxes. The larger the box, the longer the wiper interval will work. Usually, the way to adjust it is by turning the switch at the end of the operation lever.

3. LO and HI

The next symbols are LO and HI. These two symbols are used to set the wipers to work continuously. The difference between LO and HI is the speed of the wiper sweep. Generally, the sweep in the HI position will be faster compared to LO.

The LO position is usually used when it is raining heavily. When the rain is very heavy and visibility is low, you can use the HI position.

4. AUTO

Not every car has the AUTO symbol on its wiper. The AUTO symbol means that the wiper can operate automatically because it has rain-sensing wiper technology.

With this technology, the speed of the wiper movement will be controlled by the car's computer.

Thus, the movement of the car wiper will correspond to the amount of rainwater hitting the glass.

Wipers with this technology are usually equipped with an infrared sensor installed on the front glass, right behind the rearview mirror.
