Car paint is one part of the car that affects comfort and overall appearance. Just like the engine, car paint also needs to be well maintained. 

A car with good paint condition will still be shiny. Over time, the car's body paint can fade and become dull, affecting the comfort of driving.

Types of car paint 

Basically, the type of car paint can be divided into three types: Nitro Cellulose (NC), Nitro Cellulose Modified, and Polyurethane. Here is a brief explanation. 

1. Nitro Cellulose car paint 

Older cars usually use this type of car paint. Nitro Cellulose car paint tends to be unstable in terms of color and gloss, so it needs to be polished frequently to maintain its quality. 

The way to maintain this type of paint is by using a silicone-based polish. This material is known to coat NC paint well, making it look shiny. 

2. Nitro Cellulose Modified car paint 

Almost the same as NC paint, but because it has the term Modified, a special formula called hardener is added to this type of car paint. The hardener functions as a color enhancer, making the color durability much longer than regular NC paint. 

For maintaining car paint of this type, you can use silicone-based polish, which is quite similar to the maintenance of regular NC paint. 

3. Polyurethane 

Many of the latest cars use this type of paint. Polyurethane paint is said to have many advantages, namely better durability than regular car paint, making it less prone to dullness. 

The color produced is also better. However, this type of car paint still requires proper maintenance to prevent fading. The way is to polish it frequently with organic-based car paint care products, such as carnauba. 

Car paint maintenance to keep it shiny 

After knowing the type of paint used on your beloved car, it's time to learn how to polish the car paint. Here are some methods that can be applied as maintenance for the car body to keep it in good condition. 

1. Avoid using paint, cleaners, shampoos, and anything related to car maintenance that contains materials that can erode the car paint surface.

2. Polish with wax after the car is washed clean. As we know, wax can protect car paint from dirt, dust, and even sunlight that can damage the car paint.

3. Avoid using compound. Compound is a type of polish that is used by rubbing it onto the car body. This application process can cause the car paint to wear off quickly.  

Thus, the way to maintain car paint to keep it shiny like new. As we know, a well-maintained car appearance can make the car look more attractive and driving more comfortable.
