How to Set Odd-Even in Google Maps - Vehicles passing through the streets of Jakarta can face penalties if their license plates do not comply with the applicable odd-even regulations in Jakarta. To avoid this, you can search for alternative routes through the Google Maps application.

Setting the odd-even in Google Maps is also quite easy. Make sure the GPS on your device is active and connected to the internet. To clarify, let’s take a look at the review below to find out how to set the odd-even in Google Maps.

Determining the mode of transportation

In the Google Maps application, there are several options for modes of transportation, such as motorcycle, car, public transport, online transport, and even walking. Then click the car icon so that Google Maps provides routes according to the mode of transportation used.

Select license plate in Google Maps

Google Maps provides a feature to select license plates. There are odd or even options, you just need to select this feature according to your vehicle's number.

Press the three-line icon in the upper left corner. After the menu appears, select the settings menu. Then look for Navigation Settings, and in the middle section, there will be a choice of Route Options.

In this option, there is a choice of 'Avoiding odd plate roads’ or ‘Avoiding even plate roads’. For odd license plates, check Odd Plate. While for Even Plate if the license plate number is even. Then click 'Save' to save the settings.

Route options

On odd dates but using an odd license plate, the Google Maps application will show two routes at once, namely passing through the route with odd-even regulations or an alternative route free from odd-even restrictions.

Google Maps will adjust the travel route. You can check the route to be taken to avoid violating the odd-even rules in the capital city.

Entering the destination as usual

If the odd-even data for the vehicle has been input, you only need to enter the destination location. Google Maps will provide several comfortable alternative routes to take.

How to change license plate settings

If you want to drive with a different license plate, you can still change the license plate settings in Google Maps. Here’s how.

  1. Open the Google Maps application.
  2. Press the Menu icon.
  3. Go to ‘Settings‘.
  4. Go to ‘Navigation Settings‘ (this option is located at the bottom).
  5. Press ‘Avoid roads with odd-even license plate rules‘.
  6. Select odd or even license plate options.
  7. Press ‘Save‘.

During the period of license plate restrictions, you will only see routes that can be taken by the vehicle license plates that have been set earlier.

As we know, the implementation of the odd-even system in Jakarta aims to reduce traffic congestion in the capital during peak hours. Odd-even regulations apply in the morning from 06:00-10:00 WIB and in the afternoon from 16:00-21:00 WIB. This system does not apply on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.

The policy that was originally only applicable to 9 roads in Jakarta is now expanded to 25 roads.  Here are the roads in DKI Jakarta that implement the odd-even system:

* Jendral Ahmad Yani Street with the odd-even implementation starting from the intersection of Perintis Kemerdekaan Street and stopping at the intersection on Bekasi Timur Raya Street

* Jenderal S Parman Street (partially). On this road, the odd-even regulation applies from the end of the intersection of Tomang Raya Street to the intersection on KS Tubun Street
