How to Properly Align Car Tires Manually
There are several ways to properly align car tires manually that you should know.
How to align tires using thread
The steps are as follows.
1. Prepare alignment tools
Before you align the car tires, it is best to prepare the tools first. Prepare kite string or mattress thread, pipe wrenches starting from sizes 13, 14, 17, and 19, as well as a ring spanner.
2. Park the car on a flat surface
After you have prepared the alignment tools, next park your car on a flat or level surface to facilitate the alignment process.
3. Ensure the steering wheel is in a straight position
When parking the car, make sure to position the car's steering wheel in a straight position. You can stick brown or black tape to the road surface to help you park the car straight.
4. Remove the wheel cover
If your car uses a wheel cover, you need to remove that component to facilitate the alignment process.
5. Wrap the thread between the front and rear wheels
Next, you need to wrap the kite string that you prepared earlier around the rear wheel towards the front wheel. Then continue to the same rear wheel on the other side. Additionally, you can also tie the end of the string to the chassis, spring, or components located inside the rear wheel.
6. Adjust the length of the tie rod
If there is a gap at the front wheel, you need to adjust the length of the tie rod. Adjust the length of the tie rod until it reaches the appropriate setting value.
7. Remove the bolts
Next, remove the bolts on the tie rod using the pipe wrench you prepared earlier. Use a size 10 or 17 wrench to remove the bolts. Then don't forget to adjust the tie rod with a size 13 or 14 wrench.
8. Rotate the tie rod
Next, rotate the tie rod using a size 13 or 14 wrench until the rear and front wheels touch the string snugly. Next, you need to ensure that no part is too loose or pressing on one side of the front wheel.
9. Tighten the bolts on the tie rod
Finally, you can tighten the bolts on the tie rod using a size 17 or 19 wrench.

The next method is to align car tires with a measuring tape. The steps are as follows.
1. Straighten the steering position of the car
As is known, when you want to align, the steering position of the car must be straight. To straighten that position, you can drive the car for about three meters. Then, use the handbrake to position the steering wheel straight.
2. Measure the front wheels with a measuring tape
Next, measure the distance between the front wheels of the car using the measuring tape that has been prepared.
3. Measure the rear wheels with a measuring tape
Next, measure the rear wheels of the car with a measuring tape. Measure the back of the front wheels from the left side to the right. Make sure both wheels have the same measurement result. This method is similar to aligning using thread. Ensure that the adjustment results do not touch the numbers 1-5 millimeters.
