This is the List of Fuel Prices Today and the Classification of Its Types
The use of fuel oil (BBM) seems inseparable from its correlation with vehicles. This has become one of the things that is quite identical, especially since changes in fuel prices in Indonesia are almost always a hot topic. Whether it's an increase or decrease in price, fuel always becomes an important focus in Indonesia.
The price of fuel today is the purchasing value of fuel that has been influenced by various factors, including taxes in each region. It is not surprising that fuel prices in Indonesia also vary, especially in several remote island areas.
Definition of Fuel
Fuel is actually not limited to its use for vehicles. From a scientific process, fuel is an organic material that can be processed into thermal energy for propulsion. Therefore, an increase in fuel prices will significantly impact almost all industrial sectors in a region or country.
Meanwhile, fuel oil (BBM) is a type of fuel processed from non-renewable resources. Coal, petroleum, and natural gas are examples of fossil fuels formed from organic deposits. The formation of fossil fuels results from the natural decay process of organisms that are hundreds of millions of years old.
The fuel oil (BBM) commonly known is processed from petroleum in the form of hydrocarbons under liquid or solid pressure and temperature conditions. The use of BBM is expected to become extinct, leading to many natural resources being used as alternative replacements such as water, wind, and sunlight.
The use of BBM is not limited to vehicles. In Indonesia, BBM is still used as an energy source for households among the lower-middle economic community. In general, BBM is also used for public transportation, industrial machines, and much more.
Types of BBM and Price Per Liter
Type of BBM | Price |
Aviation Turbine (Avtur) | Rp9.088 |
Aviation Gasoline (Avgas) | Rp25.000 |
Gasoline RON 88 (Premium) | Rp6.450 |
Gasoline RON 92 (Pertamax) | Rp9.000 |
Gasoline RON 95 (Pertamax Plus) | Rp9.850 |
Gasoline RON 90 (Pertalite) | Rp7.650 |
High Speed Diesel (Solar) | Rp9.400 |
Biodiesel | Rp9.505 |
Pertamina Dex | Rp10.200 |
Kerosene (Kerosene) | Rp14.500 |
Marine Diesel Fuel (Diesel Oil) | Rp6.096 |
Marine Fuel Oil (Fuel Oil) | Rp3.644 |
Fuel oil is classified into nine different classifications. Essentially, this classification of BBM becomes the commodity. The classification of fuel referred to is not just gasoline. Here are the classifications of BBM types quoted from the official BPH Migas website along with the estimated price per liter.
1. Aviation Turbine (Avtur) – Price Rp Rp 9.088
This fuel for airplanes is one of the energy sources that also has a significant impact on the economy, especially related to transportation costs. Avtur is produced from petroleum fractions whose quality is determined by the characteristics of fuel purity, turbine combustion model, and structural durability at low temperatures. Avtur is used for aircraft with external combustion.
2. Aviation Gasoline (Avgas) – Price Rp25.000
In addition to Avtur, aircraft also use Avgas fuel, which is also produced from petroleum fractions. The difference is that this fuel is used for aircraft with internal combustion. Its quality is based on octane value, and the one available in Indonesia is octane 100/130.
3. Gasoline RON 88 (Premium) – Price Rp6.450
Premium gasoline is used for motor vehicles such as cars and motorcycles. Premium gasoline is also known as petrol. The color of this distillate fuel is clear yellowish due to added coloring agents.
4. Gasoline RON 92 (Pertamax) – Price Rp9.000
Pertamax has a higher octane value compared to premium. The higher octane value allows for optimal engine combustion because engine knocking is more stable. With a higher octane quality, this type of BBM is usually recommended when friends buy gasoline at gas stations.
5. Gasoline RON 95 (Pertamax Plus) – Price Rp9.850
Gasoline with an octane value of 95 is considered to meet the performance standards of the International World Wide Fuel Charter (WWFC). This high-octane fuel is deemed more environmentally friendly. Vehicles with Fuel Injection (EFI) technology and Variable Valve Timing Intelligent (VVTI/VTI) are highly recommended to use Pertamax Plus gasoline.
6. Gasoline RON 90 (Pertalite) - Price Rp7.650
This type of BBM was first introduced by Pertamina in Indonesia in 2015. Pertalite was created as an alternative transition from premium BBM with an octane rating of 90. The use of Pertalite is recommended for vehicles with a compression ratio of 9:1 to 10:1. In general, this imported BBM is suitable for vehicles produced after the year 2000.
7. High Speed Diesel (Solar) – Price Rp9.400
This type of solar fuel has a cetane performance number of 45. Usually, this fuel is used for vehicles with diesel engine transportation. Not only for motor vehicles, solar is also used for industrial machines.
8. Biodiesel – Price Rp9.505
Fossil fuel resources will eventually run out. Therefore, alternative fuels are made from plant or animal oils. One type of BBM from alternative sources is biodiesel.
Biodiesel contains 95 percent diesel petroleum and 5 percent CPO that has been formed into Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME).
9. Pertamina Dex – Price Rp10.200
Another diesel fuel is Pertamina Dex, which has a higher cetane number than solar. Pertamina Dex has a cetane number of 53 or more.
The use of Pertamina Dex BBM is highly recommended for the latest injection technology diesel engines (Diesel Common Rail System). The use of this BBM is considered to be relatively more economical and efficient. The power generated from Pertamina Dex fuel is also greater and has reached EURO 2 exhaust gas emission standards.
10. Kerosene (Kerosene) – Price Rp14.500
In Indonesia, kerosene is still often used as a household energy source. It is not surprising that the increase in kerosene prices will significantly impact the economic and social movements of the community, especially at the lower-middle level. Kerosene has a clear color with a boiling point of 150 – 300 degrees Celsius.
11. Marine Diesel Fuel (Diesel Oil) – Price Rp6.096
Diesel oil is produced from the distillation process of black oil that is liquid at low temperatures. Unlike diesel BBM, diesel oil has a low sulfur content that can function for Medium Speed Diesel Engines in the industrial sector. Diesel oil is also known as Industrial Diesel Oil (IDO).
12. Marine Fuel Oil (Fuel Oil) – Price Rp3.644
Fuel oil has a higher viscosity level compared to diesel oil. Its production process is derived from a type of residue that is black in color, not from distillation. Usually, this BBM is used in large industries or as fuel for steam power stations. This BBM is widely used because it is relatively cheaper.
So, that is complete information regarding fuel prices based on the classification of types and the sources of fuel materials. For vehicle users, don't forget to always use fuel that is suitable for your engine's needs. This will keep the engine performance durable and safe and comfortable when used for driving.
