Ketahui Batas Kecepatan Mobil di Jalan Tol, Jangan Sampai Lebih!

Toll roads are freeways, unlike highways that are often congested and jammed. However, you are not advised to drive at excessively high speeds. This is to ensure the safety and security of all drivers passing through the toll road. So what is the recommended speed limit for cars on toll roads? To find out the answer, you need to pay attention to the following review.

What is the Speed Limit for Cars on Toll Roads?

Basically, every car traveling on the toll road must comply with the rules on toll roads established by BPJT (Toll Road Management Agency), especially regarding speed limits. According to BPJT, the speed limit on toll roads is divided into two based on the type of toll road.

For the maximum speed limit for driving on intercity toll roads, it must be 100 kilometers per hour. Meanwhile, the minimum speed limit must be 60 kilometers per hour. This regulation refers to Article 23 paragraph 4 of Government Regulation No. 79 of 2013 concerning LLAJ (Traffic and Road Transportation).

As for urban toll roads, drivers have a minimum driving speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour, and a maximum speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour.

Sanctions for Speed Limit Violations on Toll Roads

After you know the speed limit for cars on toll roads, you need to understand what sanctions are imposed when you violate these limits. According to Law No. 22 of 2029 concerning LLAJ (Traffic and Road Transportation) Article 287 paragraph 5, violators of the speed limit on toll roads are subject to a penalty of imprisonment for 2 months, and a maximum fine of Rp500,000.

Safe Driving Tips on Toll Roads

To ensure your journey is comfortable and safe, you need to know some safe driving tips on toll roads. Here are the complete tips.

1. Be Wise in Managing Your Car's Speed

The first tip is to be wise in determining your driving speed. Make sure you comply with the speed limits set by BPJT. By adhering to these speed limits, you will avoid penalties for violations and the potential for accidents on the toll road.

This is because toll roads can also cause aquaplaning (a condition where the car loses control due to reduced grip caused by standing water).

2. Ensure Your Car is in Prime Condition

The second tip is to ensure your car is in prime condition before driving. Make sure you have checked and serviced your vehicle at a workshop before embarking on your journey.

To keep your car in prime condition, you need to perform regular checks and maintenance at the nearest Daihatsu workshop. Because Daihatsu workshops are renowned and the largest in Indonesia, with professional mechanics in their field.

4. Always Maintain Distance

Although the road conditions on toll roads are not as congested as highways, you also need to maintain distance. You can keep a distance of 20 meters to 70 meters, depending on the speed of the car you are driving.

5. Use the Shoulder of the Road if Your Car Has Problems

The last tip is to use the shoulder of the road when your car experiences problems such as a flat tire or a stuck gas pedal.
