One important part of a car's working system is the resonator. 

The resonator is a component of the exhaust located in the exhaust system. Its function is to create back pressure in the exhaust gas flow, as well as to dampen the noise produced when the engine is running. 

Although it seems simple, there are several effects that occur due to the absence of a resonator in the exhaust.

1. Engine Performance Changes

Without a resonator in your vehicle's exhaust, it can directly affect the engine performance of the car. This is because the resonator plays a role in creating back pressure in the exhaust gas. 

The smaller the size of the back pressure, the faster the air exchange cycle entering the combustion chamber will be. This happens due to the small or even nonexistent back pressure from the exhaust gas flow. 

The decrease in back pressure will also affect the sound produced when the exhaust gas flows. Thus, the exhaust will emit a loud popping sound, especially when the engine is in a deceleration condition.

So, the effect of a car exhaust without a resonator that causes this condition will impact the overall engine performance. If the calculations before removing the resonator are not perfect, the engine performance can decline. 

The calculations in this exhaust system are quite complex, involving pipe models, diameters and lengths of pipes, as well as how they are connected.

2. Fuel Consumption Changes

When the performance of the engine system changes overall, it will significantly affect the fuel consumption. Whether the car engine is in good condition or not, an exhaust without a resonator will disrupt the fuel consumption. This will make you consume more gasoline.

For example, when at low rpm, an exhaust without a resonator makes the pull less powerful. Thus, to overcome this condition, you have to press the gas pedal harder to increase the engine rpm. 

As a result, fuel consumption will increase, so one effect of a car exhaust without a resonator is that it makes fuel consumption more wasteful than it should be.

3. Noisy Exhaust Sound

One certain consequence when the exhaust lacks a resonator is that the exhaust sound becomes noisier. This is because the resonator itself has the main function of dampening the sound from the vehicle's exhaust. 

So it can be assured that your vehicle will produce a louder noise than it should.

Especially when the engine rpm is high, or when the car is accelerating. Because when the engine rpm increases, the sound produced by the exhaust will also increase.

Meanwhile, the resonator that functions to dampen the sound is absent, making it noisier. So the effect of a car exhaust without a resonator can make it louder.

Although the effects caused may not seem too dangerous to the overall condition of the car, these various effects will certainly make you uncomfortable. 

Moreover, fuel wastage can make you spend more money. Therefore, you should continue to install a resonator on your car and don’t forget to perform regular servicing.
