What Code is Used for Papua License Plates?
Generally, vehicle license plates in the Province of Papua use the code PA as the front plate code in accordance with the Government Decision of 2018 regarding Changes to the Vehicle License Plate Code System in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the code PB is used as the front plate code for motor vehicles operating in the Southwest Papua Province.
However, in 2024, three provinces in Papua proposed changes to the front plate codes, namely the Southwest Papua Province, South Papua Province, and Central Papua Province.
For the Southwest Papua Province, such as Sorong Regency, Sorong City, South Sorong Regency, Maybrat Regency, Tambrauw Regency, and Raja Ampat Regency, which previously used the code PB as the front plate code, has changed to the code PY.
For the South Papua Province, such as Asmat Regency, Boven Digoel Regency, Mappi Regency, and Merauke Regency, which previously used the code PA as the front plate code, has changed to the code PS.
Meanwhile, for the Central Papua Province, such as Deiyai Regency, Dogiyai Regency, Intan Jaya Regency, Mimika Regency, Nabire Regency, Paniai Regency, Puncak Regency, and Puncak Jaya Regency, the front plate code PT is used as a replacement for the code PA.
So, which areas still use the PA plate as the front plate code for Papua? The PA front plate code is used in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Biak Numfor Regency, Jayawijaya Regency, and Yapen Islands Regency.
How to Check Papua License Plate Vehicle Tax

1. Check via the e-Samsat Papua website
The steps are as follows.
- Open your mobile phone or laptop and visit the e-Samsat Papua website at https://samsat id/papua.
- Then fill in the available fields on the website page starting from the vehicle license plate number, serial number, the last 5 digits of the chassis number, to the vehicle color (TNKB).
- Then select the province according to the vehicle's domicile in the "Select Province" column.
- Once done, just press the "Check Now" button and the information regarding the vehicle tax will appear.
2. Check via the official Bapenda (Regional Revenue Agency) Papua website
The steps are as follows.
- Open your mobile phone or laptop and visit the official Bapenda Papua website at http://dynamic.bapenda.papua.go.id:81/cekpajak/
- Then fill in the "ENTER VEHICLE PLATE NUMBER (without spaces)" field.
- Then select the color in the "Select Plate Color" column according to the TNKB color.
- Once done, press the "Display Data" button, and the information regarding the motor vehicle tax will appear.
3. Check via the SIGNAL application
The steps are as follows.
- Download the SIGNAL application on your phone and install it.
- Once done, register your account until completed, then log into the application.
- Then select the "Add Motor Vehicle Data" menu.
- Then select the "Vehicle in Your Name" menu.
- Then fill in the required data such as vehicle license plate number, serial number, and the last 5 digits of the chassis number.
- Then select the province according to the vehicle's domicile.
- Once done, press the "Check Now" button, and the tax information will appear.
