This is the Development Process of Daihatsu Rocky in Indonesia

One of the cars that is currently highly anticipated by the public is the Daihatsu Rocky. This Japanese car is believed to have several advantages compared to its previous version. The Daihatsu Rocky itself has been available in Indonesia since the 1980s.
Currently, the latest Daihatsu Rocky is still undergoing development, especially in Indonesia. So, what does the development process of the Daihatsu Rocky in Indonesia look like?
Starting with a Survey
According to Amelia Tjandra, the Marketing Director and Corporate Planning and Communication of PT Astra Daihatsu Motor, the development process of the Daihatsu Rocky in Indonesia will begin with a survey. The survey is conducted so that the manufacturer can determine what kind of design is suitable for consumers, especially in Indonesia.
After conducting the survey, the manufacturer will then create the car's design. Whether it is the body design, exterior, interior, or engine. All of this will be worked on by the R&D team from the manufacturer.
Once completed, the design will be made into a prototype of the latest Daihatsu Rocky. Only after that will a test drive be conducted for the prototype.
Test Drive
One of the most crucial processes in the development of the Daihatsu Rocky is the test drive. This process will significantly determine whether the car is worthy of production or not.
According to Anjar Rosjadi, the Product Planning Division Head of PT Astra Daihatsu Motor, the test drive for the Daihatsu Rocky will be conducted on various roads and over different distances.
“In the development of (Daihatsu) Rocky, we conduct a series of road tests (test drives) to prove whether the results are optimal or not. For Rocky itself, we have conducted test drives on 24 roads in Indonesia,” he said as reported by Liputan 6.
According to Anjar, the test drive on 24 roads was conducted using facilities owned by the R&D division. So, in addition to creating the design of the Daihatsu Rocky, the R&D team also provides the facilities for the test drive of the Daihatsu Rocky.
The 24 roads used are all from the island of Java. From the latest test drive results, it was found that the Rocky has a consumption of 1.0 liters, and the turbo is between 17 to 18 kilometers per meter.
Different from the Japanese Version
The latest Daihatsu Rocky is not only produced in Indonesia. But also in Japan. According to Anjar, the Daihatsu Rocky in Indonesia and Japan actually looks the same. However, there are some minor differences between the two.
Based on independent research conducted by several parties, Anjar stated that the difference between the Indonesian Rocky and the Japanese version lies in the body. The body of the Indonesian version of the Daihatsu Rocky is slightly larger.
“There is independent research that says the Daihatsu Rocky Indonesia has a larger body compared to the Japanese version. That is true, but the difference is not too significant. The size of the body of the Daihatsu Rocky Indonesia is more due to the different tire sizes and the thickness of the rear bumper, which makes the Indonesian Rocky look larger. But overall, the spaciousness and size of the Rocky from Japan and Indonesia are the same,” said Anjar.
According to information, the Daihatsu Rocky Indonesia will use tires of type 205 R16. These tires have a wide shape and a high tread. It is these tires that make the body of the Daihatsu Rocky Indonesia look larger.
Based on the discussions above, it can be concluded that the development process of the Daihatsu Rocky is carried out in several stages. Starting from surveys, car design creation, to test drives.
All of this will eventually produce the latest Daihatsu Rocky that meets the needs of the Indonesian people. Now, let's just wait to see what the Daihatsu Rocky will look like.
