Requirements and Costs for Changing White License Plates
Starting from mid-2022, a new policy regarding vehicle license plate changes will be implemented. From the originally black color, this new policy will ensure the license plates change to white. So what are the requirements and costs for changing to white license plates?
This change to white license plates applies on a national scale, although its implementation will be gradual. Meanwhile, government vehicles and public transportation will continue to use the same plate color.
Requirements for Changing to White License Plates
Referring to Perpol Number 7 of 2021 concerning the Registration and Identification of Motor Vehicles, the change to white license plates is made as an effort to effectively implement Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE), which is electronic ticketing conducted with the help of cameras as evidence of violations.
According to Article 45 Paragraph 1 (a) which explains about TNKB (Motor Vehicle Number Sign) owned by individuals, legal entities, Foreign State Representatives, and International Bodies will change to a white base color with black writing. This white plate also has the same size, thickness, and material as the previous black plate.
This plan is targeted to start in mid-2022 with a phased change system starting from new vehicles that will be registered, vehicles whose plate validity has expired, or for those of you who are renewing STNK or changing vehicle ownership.
For those of you whose STNK validity has expired and must pay annual taxes, you can change your motor vehicle license plate.
Unlike the annual vehicle tax payment, for this 5-year tax, there are several requirements and documents that must be fulfilled by the vehicle owner.
Here are the requirements for changing to white license plates for 5-year vehicles for the issuance of new STNK and TNKB, namely:
- Original STNK and its photocopy
- Original BPKB and its photocopy (original BPKB shown to the officer)
- Original ID card and photocopy of the owner's ID card according to the vehicle identity data (for vehicles in the name of individuals)
- Photocopy of Company Domicile, Company NPWP, Company SIUP, and Company TDP (for vehicles in the name of a company)
- Power of attorney, if you authorize another party to handle the management. For vehicles in the name of a company, the Power of Attorney must be on the Company Letterhead, signed by the grantor, and stamped by the company on a stamp duty (attach a photocopy of the ID card of the Grantor)
- Proof of physical vehicle check
Cost of Changing to White License Plates
Of course, there are questions regarding the costs that vehicle owners must prepare for the change from black to white license plates. In terms of the cost of changing to white license plates, there is no change in costs to be worried about.
This means that the cost of this change is the same as when you replace the black plate every 5 years. The official cost for the issuance of TNKB is stated in PP Number 60 of 2016 concerning Types and Tariffs for Types of Non-Tax State Revenue Applicable to the Indonesian National Police.
In that regulation, it is mentioned that the issuance fee for TNKB for two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicles is Rp 60,000.00, while for four-wheeled vehicles or more, a fee of Rp 100,000.00 is charged.
