Speed Bump Regulations That Must Be Known
As mentioned earlier, there are speed bump regulations that must be understood by everyone. These regulations are not explained in detail in the Traffic and Road Transport Law article 25 paragraph 1.
However, through the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia number PM 14/2021 regarding Road User Control and Safety Devices, speed bumps are divided into 3 types, and each type has its own regulations. For more clarity, let's look at the three types of speed bumps.
Speed Bump
This is the most common type of speed bump you will find in Indonesia and is usually found in parking areas, special roads, or roads with limited environments. The operational speed is less than 10 km/h.
There are rules and regulations in the making of this speed bump, which should be made of asphalt, rubber, or other materials, with a height of 5 to 9 cm and a width of 35 to 39 cm with a slope of 50 percent. Don't forget to mark it with a combination of yellow and white colors.
Speed Hump
Next is the speed hump, which can be applied to local roads or areas with a road status having an operational speed of less than 20 km/h. The construction requirements are:
- Made of asphalt or other materials with similar performance
- Height of 8-15 cm and width between 30-90 cm with a slope of 15 percent
- There are signs with a mixture of yellow/white colors with a size of 20 cm and black 30 cm
Speed Table
Next is the speed table, which is usually installed on secondary collector roads (roads intended for moderate speeds) and local roads or roads with speeds of less than 40 km/h. The construction rules are as follows:
- Made of asphalt or block paving with the same quality as K-300
- Height of 8-9 cm and width of the top part 660 cm with a slope of 15 percent
- Create a combination of yellow or white colors with a size of 30 and black 30 cm
Although it seems quite trivial, there are actually a number of rules in the making of speed bumps. These rules are divided based on the type of speed bump that exists. With the right speed bump regulations, drivers will feel more comfortable and safe.
