Tips for Choosing a Durable Battery Based on Its Cell Material

There are at least 5 types of batteries. All have their advantages and disadvantages. The durable battery cell material means you don't have to replace it quickly.
A battery is a supplier for running components such as horns, turn signals, and engine starters. Proper usage will determine the longevity of the battery. Under standard usage, a battery can last up to two years.
Durable Battery Cell Material
The right battery selection will determine the performance of the motor vehicle. Many manufacturers sell batteries and claim their products are of the highest quality. However, before deciding which one to choose, understand the materials used in the battery cells.
This is because the battery cell is an important part that often causes a decline in function. Currently, there are 6 types of battery cells available in the market that can be chosen, namely:
Lead (Pb) Material
This type of cell is commonly used in wet batteries or batteries that contain sulfuric acid solution (HSO4). The battery fluid will decrease due to evaporation during use. Therefore, users must check it frequently.
The fluid inside is corrosive. The use of this type of battery often causes problems because it is easily flammable if there is fire. Its advantage is that the charging process is very fast.
Of course, this is beneficial because it provides energy quickly. So in emergency situations, it can quickly turn back on. This relates to its self-discharging nature.
Hybrid
This type of battery also uses fluid. However, it is very different from the previous type. The negative cell uses calcium, while the positive side uses low antimonial. Overall, this type is better than the lead-based one.
Calcium Battery
As the name suggests, this type of battery uses calcium in both the positive and negative cells. Its performance is much better where the water content in the battery does not easily evaporate, making it more durable. Its advantages are:
- Much better performance
- Longer lifespan or durability
- Lowest self-discharge rate
Maintenance Free
Maintenance-free is the type of battery that is least likely to be troublesome. This is because it has the lowest condensation level. Moreover, it has the ability to convert battery vapor back into pure water, so it doesn't need to be filled too often.
This type can be said to be a combination of hybrid and calcium. For vehicle owners who have limited time to take care of it, this type of battery is the right choice. It combines the advantages of both types of batteries.
Sealed (SLA)
This type also uses calcium as part of the cell. However, there is a separator that is an electrolyte material in gel form. This type of battery is the most resistant in terms of energy storage.
Its gel content makes it spill-proof, thus safe. Its weakness is that it has less durability. With this type of battery, it can still perform the starting function even after being dead for a while.
Best Battery Types
Based on the description above, sealed is the best type. The calcium present in the cell makes its operation optimal. Additionally, because its content is not in the form of water but gel, it does not easily break during use.
As mentioned earlier, the choice of type with strong cell material is important. To obtain a good battery is not difficult.
Vehicle manufacturers Daihatsu always use the best batteries in all their products. This makes it no surprise that all their cars are reliable and have many enthusiasts.
Not only batteries, but the components used in all Daihatsu products are always the best. Therefore, choosing Daihatsu is a very wise decision. Their products use durable battery cell materials.
