The car AC evaporator is a component in the car's air conditioning system that functions to release cool and cold air inside the car. In countries with quite hot climates like Indonesia, having an air conditioner in the car is indeed very important, especially when the weather is scorching. The AC feature also becomes one of the considerations for someone before deciding to buy this four-wheeled vehicle. Within an AC system, there is a very important component, namely the AC Evaporator.

In this component, vaporization occurs in the expansion valve area, which can also be referred to as the expansion valve. Subsequently, this vapor will be channeled to the Evaporator in the form of air with a cold temperature. The airflow from the blower will then pass through the sides of the Evaporator, causing cold air to be released, making the car cabin feel cooler.

The blower component itself functions as a tool that ensures the air circulation in the car cabin can pass through the cold Evaporator when the AC is turned on. As a crucial component of the car AC, it is certainly beneficial for you to understand how the Evaporator functions so that if problems arise, you can know the right way to address them.

Function of the Car AC Evaporator

The Evaporator serves to release cold or cool air inside the car cabin. This component operates on the same principle as a refrigerator. Simply put, the function of the car AC evaporator is to absorb heat and then release it as cooler air or temperature.

As a main component, there are often issues that occur with the Evaporator. One common problem is the occurrence of leaks in the Evaporator. If this happens, the component responsible for cooling the Freon sprayed from the expansion valve will lose its function. Freon will be wasted due to the leak, resulting in the cabin not feeling cool.

To detect leaks in the car AC evaporator, it usually needs to be disassembled first, and then air pressure is applied while the component is submerged in water. If a leak occurs, air bubbles will appear. This checking method is quite similar to checking for leaks in car tires.

Causes of AC Damage

In hot weather like in Indonesia, it is indeed difficult to drive without AC. The presence of AC is very important and can make drivers feel much more comfortable. But do you know that there are habits that can cause this cooling device to malfunction? These habits include frequently smoking inside the car. This habit can cause dust and smoke from cigarettes to enter the filter. If this happens, the filter will get dirty faster, and the AC will not work optimally.

Besides smoking, another habit that can damage the AC, including the Evaporator, is keeping the car windows open for too long while the AC is still running. This habit is quite common among many people. In fact, this habit can make the compressor's job of regulating the ideal temperature in the cabin much more difficult. As a result, the AC can break down more quickly.

Placing air fresheners carelessly can also damage the AC. The right air freshener to use in a car is a liquid form. If using a gel air freshener, it can cause the gel to turn into vapor and gas. When the air is cold, the vapor produced can revert to gel. This can obstruct the filter and affect the operation of the split AC Evaporator.

Another habit that can cause damage to the AC is turning off the car engine while the AC is still running. This habit may be one of the most common practices.

The downside of this habit is that when you restart the car engine, the AC will automatically turn on or operate. You must remember that the battery needs to work harder when the car engine is first started. Because of this maximum performance, the electrical current becomes less stable. This is what causes problems with the electricity supplying the AC.

Always Maintain Cabin Cleanliness

Keeping the cabin clean by removing trash inside is an obligation. However, many people forget or are reluctant to dispose of the trash promptly. This habit can certainly make the cabin area dirty and dusty. Dust can enter and exit through the car AC. This will cause AC components like the filter to wear out more quickly.

If damage occurs to the AC, one of the effects is that the AC temperature becomes less cold than usual. This problem can occur at any time. In fact, there are cases where the AC emits unpleasant odors or even hot air.

Don't forget to check the condition and clean the AC components, as neglecting this can lead to problems. Make sure to check various components like filters and the Evaporator component in the car AC. These two components are the main parts of the AC, so when either has specific issues, it will affect the AC's performance. Various problems can arise, including the air released by the AC not being cold. Ensure to check all components, including the car AC Evaporator, regularly.
