3 Ways to Properly Install a Car Alarm
Car theft is still rampant in several regions of Indonesia, especially if you live in a metropolitan city with a high level of mobility.
To protect vehicles from the hands of irresponsible individuals, many car owners take the initiative to install car alarms themselves. How to do it? Check out the brief review below.
1. Choosing Central Lock and Alarm
There are several things to consider before the alarm installation process on the vehicle is carried out. For example, you must understand how the alarm works well in advance of installing that security feature.
Equally important to consider is whether the chosen car alarm is suitable for your vehicle type.
Even buying a high-priced car alarm does not guarantee that the security feature will function optimally if its specifications do not match your car.
Therefore, you cannot install that advanced feature carelessly without considering these important factors.
To avoid difficulties and mistakes in the installation, there are at least a few steps that need to be taken before applying the method of installing a car alarm.
First, you need to understand the placement of the alarm that is appropriate for the type of vehicle. By placing it in the right spot, the accessory can function optimally.
Second, you need to understand the vehicle's electrical installation and pay attention to the power source used so that the alarm can function optimally.
If the installation is done correctly, it's time to choose the appropriate central lock and alarm. Generally, a package of central lock and alarm already consists of several important components.
2. Guide to Installing Central Lock and Alarm
In the next step, you need to drill the side of the door where the lock actuator will be installed. This is important because the lock actuator itself consists of 5 colored wires.
If the method of installing the car alarm is not correct, it is not surprising if this security feature cannot function optimally.
Later, a wire will be placed on the main door (driver's door), while the other lock actuator will be placed on the other door.
Specifically for the central lock's built-in wire, it will be adjusted to the lock actuator module. To keep the central lock module protected, you can place it at the bottom of the vehicle's dashboard.
After the cable installation has been successfully completed, it's time to connect the power cable from the central lock module to the battery. When the installation is done correctly, the lock actuator will function well.
This is indicated by the locking lever on the vehicle door moving up or down when the feature is activated.
3. Connecting Central Lock and Remote Alarm
The last method of installing the car alarm is to connect the central lock and its remote alarm.
The way to connect it is quite easy, where you need to connect the red (+) wire to the battery and the black (-) wire to the car body.
Meanwhile, the brown wire is connected to the turn signal, and the pink wire to the speaker.
Installing an alarm on your beloved vehicle is one of the preventive steps to avoid theft.
