4 Ways to Properly Install Car Window Film

The use of window film in cars is considered one of the necessities by car owners. In addition to aesthetic appeal, this glass can also enhance the privacy and security of the driver.
If you are willing to spend a large amount of money to buy the film, make sure you use the correct method for installing car window film as follows.
1. Clean the Glass and Handle Partition
Before choosing car glass, it is advisable to know the types of car window film first.
After that, you can choose a place for film installation that must be clean and free of any dirt.
Therefore, make sure you clean all parts of the glass surface that will be installed with the film. Use a cleaning solution and a soft cloth to lift all the dirt.
Do the same for the handle partition, edges, and also in between the wipers (for the front or rear glass).
Usually, the location of the partition and the corners that come into direct contact with the rubber seal will have quite stubborn dirt.
You can use a cutter or knife to remove the residue of stickers and dirt.
Repeat this step of the car window film installation if necessary. You can also check the cleanliness of the glass by looking from both the inside and outside of the car.
Make sure there will be no dirt left, as dust or dirt will cause the window film to bubble and look untidy.
2. Measure and Cut According to Needs
It is advisable to do this step with the help of another person.
This is because you need to measure accurately. To assist with the measurement, you can lay the film directly over the glass with the adhesive side facing up.
After that, ensure the film is placed correctly and then cut with a cutter or sharp knife.
It is important to note that it is better to add 2-3 cm on each side or corner. This is done to avoid mismeasurement, which often occurs due to unexpected curves.
This method of installing car window film will also ensure that each part is completely covered, which you can trim after it is applied.

3. Spray with Special Liquid
After obtaining the correct measurements, proceed to the installation process. What you need to know is to spray the liquid (soapy water) periodically and continuously.
Ensure the inside of the glass is wet, then peel off the adhesive protector and slowly apply the glass film. While applying, it is advisable to continue spraying it with the liquid.
Start the installation from the bottom to the top. At this stage, it is also advisable to remove the squeegee from the middle first.
Then follow with a sideways motion, so that the adhesive will stick evenly.
Apply the film with slight pressure so that the entire surface adheres well and there will be no air bubbles.
4. Clean the Liquid and Neaten the Edges
The final method for installing car window film can be done once the entire film is applied. At this stage, you must clean all the liquid used during installation.
Wipe with a soft cloth or chamois. Then, tidy up the edges that were left with 2 cm. Use a thin knife and cut slowly to avoid leaving marks on the glass surface.
At least that is a brief step for installing window film. Although it seems very simple, it can be detrimental if there are installation mistakes.
Especially considering the high price of window film. Therefore, make sure the glass surface is clean, cut the film properly, and install it slowly and carefully.
