5 Common Wiper Damage in Cars and How to Overcome It

Indeed, the weather in Indonesia is currently unpredictable; sometimes it rains, but a few minutes later it becomes hot. For car users, such conditions require extra attention for safety and comfort while driving. In addition to paying attention to the engine condition and proper driving techniques, vehicle users must also prepare supporting devices, especially when it starts to rain.
Keeping the Wipers from Getting Damaged
One device that must be considered is the wiper or water remover on the car windshield. Sometimes the function of the wiper seems trivial. However, if this device is damaged, it can pose risks to safety and comfort, especially as the driver's visibility may be obstructed. Therefore, before the rain becomes more frequent, it is advisable to check and identify potential problems with the wipers. What are the issues and how to address them? Here’s the explanation below.
1. Wiper Rubber Worn Out
First, you should pay attention to the wiper rubber. If it has worn out or hardened, it is better to replace it with a flexible rubber. Hardened rubber not only causes uneven wiping of water on the glass surface but also has the potential to scratch the car glass. If that happens, the repair costs can be quite high.
2. Slow Wiper Movement
This phenomenon is usually caused by something dirty affecting the electrical flow and often makes the wiper crank hindered. To fix this, clean the coil resistance.
Additionally, the reason for slow wipers is due to rust on the wiper elements. As a result, the performance becomes suboptimal, and the wiping slows down. To address this, clean the crank from rust and spray that part with anti-rust liquid. If it is severe, it needs to be welded or replaced.
3. Wiper Does Not Move at All
If this happens to you, the first possibility is that the electric motor is worn out. If this occurs, there is no other option but to replace it with a new one. Second, there may be an issue with the fuse. There are two problems related to the fuse. If the fuse is blown, it means there is excessive electrical current. Therefore, examine the circuit and the connections between the wires related to the fuse.
4. Wiper Dynamo (Wiper Motor) Burned
Like any Dynamo, the common damage that occurs in the Wiper Dynamo is burned coils. This is usually caused by a short circuit in the car's electrical system. If this happens, the Car Wiper is declared completely damaged and must be replaced.
5. Weak Water Spray from the Washer
Another common issue is that the water spray from the washer head on the car hood is weak, small, or inaccurate. All these problems are caused by a blockage in the washer head hole.
Cleaning it is quite easy. You just need to remove the tank, mix in some gravel, and shake it until the dirt stuck to the tank walls is gone. To ensure it is completely clean, repeat this process several times. After that, blow the hose strongly and clean the washer head hole using a needle. Once the hole is cleaned, blow the hose one more time.
