The car engine consists of various devices that have their own uses and components. One of them is the cooling system.

This system is responsible for cooling the friction of engine components and cylinders. However, do you know what components are in the cooling system / car engine cooling device? Here is the review.

1. Radiator Fluid Or Coolant

It is very clear that the main component of the cooling system is the coolant, or cooling fluid. Generally, this fluid has a higher boiling point than regular water, allowing it to dissipate heat from the engine. Not only that, the coolant also contains substances that do not cause corrosion.

2. Radiator

The radiator has the main function of cooling the mixture of coolant by circulating air through holes or grids. It can be said that the radiator is used to release heat from the cooling fluid that absorbs the engine's heat.

For more details, it is advisable to understand how the radiator works. Generally, radiators are made from 3 types of materials. Some are made of aluminum, copper, or brass.

3. Water Pump

As the name suggests, the water pump is a component of the cooling system / car engine cooling device that is responsible for pumping the cooled coolant. This pump will circulate the fluid to the engine block, cylinders, and back to the radiator. Broadly speaking, this electric pump will continuously distribute the fluid.

4. Freeze Plug Or Radiator Cap

This valve or radiator cap has a very important task, which is to seal the holes in the engine block and cylinder head. However, this plug also has a dual function to drain evaporated water to the reserve tank. This flow usually occurs if the radiator pressure exceeds 0.7 or even 0.9 bar units.

5. Reserve Radiator Tank

The reserve tank or reservoir is useful for storing water that overflows from the radiator. Generally, this component of the cooling system / car engine cooling device will only be active if the engine is too hot, causing overflow. To prevent waste, the water from the system is stored in the tank for reuse.

6. Thermostat

It is very clear that this device is responsible for maintaining the working temperature of the engine. However, the thermostat also serves as a device to determine whether the coolant can enter the radiator or not. The thermostat is installed right at the mouth of the cylinder hose, so it can close the valve when the engine temperature is not optimal.

7. Radiator Fan

This fan is generally located near the heater core, which functions to circulate cooling air. This location is also related to the purpose of providing cold air through the radiator grille. Generally, this fan is active when the car is stationary and there is no incoming wind.

8. Radiator Hose

The last component of the cooling system / car engine cooling device is the hose that connects and distributes the coolant. This hose will connect the engine block and radiator to circulate hot radiator water back to the radiator and vice versa.

The series of components in the cooling system in vehicles work together to reduce heat in the engine. This primarily functions to reduce overheating in the engine and cylinders. The coolant will flow from one component to another to lower the heat. Make sure all cooling devices are in optimal condition to work perfectly.
