When washing a car, people usually only clean the exterior of the car. As a result, the car engine is overlooked and not cleaned. In fact, the car engine plays a significant role in running the car, so it needs to be well-maintained. Cleaning the engine is certainly very different from cleaning the car body. Extra caution is needed to avoid damaging the engine parts.

It should be noted that there are electronic components inside the engine that should not be touched by water. Although they are equipped with rubber seals to prevent water ingress, these rubber seals can still come loose and get damaged, especially if the engine has been dirty for a long time. When washing the car, you need certain tips to avoid damaging the engine. Here are the tips:

1.    Prepare

The first step you should take is to keep the engine warm. If the car engine is still cold, it is advisable to warm it up first. A warm car engine can make it easier to remove grime from the engine, making the cleaning process easier.

2.    Use plastic to wrap the electrical parts of the engine

After warming up the car, it is advisable to use aluminum foil or another material to wrap the electrical components of the engine. This is done to prevent the electrical components from getting wet during the washing process.

3.    Washing the engine

Once the above process is complete, you can prepare to start washing. The first part that should be cleaned is the underside of the hood. Use water to spray. However, remember to avoid using high-pressure water.

When cleaning the underside of the hood, you can use a paste soap. This type of soap is effective in dissolving and removing grease and oil. Don't forget to use a slightly coarse brush to scrub off the dirt that sticks. Continue by rinsing the hood with clean water.

An important thing to note is not to leave soap water to dry on its own. If this is done, the soap water will leave marks on your car.

4.    How to wash the car engine

The next process is to clean the car engine parts. Use clean water to rinse the engine parts. Remember not to use high-pressure water, as it can cause damage to the engine. Just use a water hose or you can also use a spray bottle for spraying.

To clean the dirt stuck to the car, you can use a sponge or brush. If there is oil residue, you can dissolve it with a special liquid that is now widely sold in the market.

Unlike cleaning other parts of the car, cleaning the engine must be done with great caution to avoid causing fatal damage to the engine.
