Therefore, if your car tire is damaged, it can be troublesome. Moreover, if you choose tires carelessly, they can wear out quickly.
There are several things that you need to know about car tires. Of course, you need to know the type of tire, the year of manufacture, the tread pattern, and much more. Below, you can see how to choose tires correctly. Let's follow along!
Types of Tires
Tires come in various types. The selection of tire types must match your car's needs. There are tires with the type ?P?, which means passenger. The ?P? tires can be used for cars that carry passengers. There are also ?LT? type tires which mean Light Truck and ?ST? which means Special Trailer. Meanwhile, there is also type ?T? which means Temporary. The ?T? tires are also known as spare tires. Based on the image above, we also find the letter ?R?.
This letter indicates the criteria for radial tires. Tire criteria can be divided into Radial, Tubeless (without inner tube), Tubetype (with inner tube), and Bias. In bias tires, there is a construction of thread weaving arranged diagonally. Generally, bias tires are used by large commercial vehicles. Meanwhile, in radial tires, there is a construction of thread weaving arranged straight. Generally, radial tires are used by regular passenger cars.
Tire Size
After looking at the types of tires, you need to know the size of the car tire. The size of the car tire can be seen through the number engraving on the side of the tire, which is in the form of a code arrangement. For example, the Daihatsu All New Sirion has tires with the code 185/55 R15 95H. The number 185 indicates how wide the tire tread is in millimeters. The width of a tire can affect the increase in your car's speed performance. Then, the number 55 indicates the thickness of the tire compared to the width of the tire tread. The number is written as a ratio in percentage. This means that the number 55 indicates that the thickness of the tire is 55% of 185 millimeters. The thicker a tire is, the better the car's balance can be maintained.
Then the letter R indicates the criteria for Radial tires. The number 15 indicates the diameter of the rim used in inches. Then, 95H is the maximum load capacity and the safe speed limit for operation. The number 95 has a load index of 690 kg while the letter H symbolizes a maximum speed of up to 210 km/h. Each car tire has different load capacities and maximum speeds. Here is the list:

- Code 63: 272 kg
- Code 64: 280 kg
- Code 66: 300 kg
- Code 68: 315 kg
- Code 70: 335 kg
- Code 73: 365 kg
- Code 75: 387 kg
- Code 80--89: 450--580 kg
- Code 90--100: 600--800 kg
