Simple Tricks to Keep Wiper Rubber Elastic and Durable

When the rainy season comes, the wiper rubber on the car's windshield must perform well. This special flexible rubber must be able to maintain the clarity and cleanliness of the front and rear windshields. As a result, the driver's view of the road will not be disturbed even when heavy rain falls.
To ensure that the wiper rubber continues to function properly, you must also maintain its condition. The scorching heat of the sun and dust may damage or reduce its working quality. To avoid undesirable situations, here are some simple tricks for maintaining wiper rubber to extend its lifespan. One of them is to always use the wiper when the car's windshield is wet or completely wet. The wetness can come from the wiper water pump or from rainwater.
"To make its lifespan longer and keep functioning well, before turning on the wiper, make sure the car's windshield is wet. If the wiper is turned on when the weather is not rainy, it is advisable to spray the windshield with wiper water first to wash away the dust and dirt stuck to the glass," warned Edi Sarwano, a mechanic at a general workshop on Jl. Krukut Raya, Depok.
Next, prevent the wiper rubber from becoming brittle by not always leaving the wiper rubber in contact with the car's windshield. This means that when the car is parked outdoors without a roof for an extended period, it should not be exposed to direct sunlight too often. Because if it hardens and loses its elasticity, the wiper will not be able to work optimally to wipe water from the glass.
Finally, wiper rubber that has become brittle should be replaced promptly. Because brittle and hard wiper rubber risks damaging the surface of the car's glass, marked by the appearance of scratches that cannot be removed even after multiple washes.
