Which is better, dry or wet batteries, is a common question in the minds of car owners. Especially when considering which type of battery to use.

Each type of battery is actually beneficial for cars. However, if you are still confused about which one to choose, don't worry. We will try to provide an explanation about both types of batteries. The discussion can be found below!

Dry Battery

Let's first discuss the dry battery. A dry battery is a type of battery that uses gel as the electrolyte for its cells. The gel in a dry battery contains a liquid in the form of battery water that does not easily evaporate.

Because it does not easily evaporate, the battery water in the gel is considered long-lasting. This type of battery does not require too much routine maintenance. Therefore, it is not surprising that this battery is also commonly referred to as a maintenance-free battery. Although it is not complicated in terms of maintenance, this type of battery is relatively expensive in the market.

Wet Battery

In contrast to dry batteries, this type of battery uses electrolyte liquid as the electrolyte for its cells. Unlike the gel in dry batteries, the liquid in wet batteries is relatively easier to evaporate.

If using this type of battery, you need to regularly check the battery liquid, especially if it starts to evaporate. Make sure the water level does not drop drastically. A drastic drop in water level will cause the battery cells to also evaporate.

Wet batteries require routine maintenance. At least once every two months. Specifically for operational vehicles like taxis, routine maintenance on wet batteries should be done once a month. This is because operational vehicles are used more frequently than private vehicles. Compared to dry batteries, wet batteries are cheaper.

So, Which is Better?

The answer to the above can be found in your own needs. If you need a battery that is not too complicated in terms of maintenance, then a dry battery is a good choice.

However, if you want a battery that is cheaper, a wet battery is the option to take. Whatever choice you make, you must accept the consequences.

For example: if you choose a dry battery because it is not complicated in terms of maintenance, then you must accept the consequence behind it. Spending a lot of money to buy that battery is the consequence.

Buy Quality Batteries

Regardless of which type of battery you want to buy, make sure the battery you purchase is of good quality. To obtain it, you can follow a number of tips below:

Choose a Trusted Battery Brand

Whether wet or dry, each type of battery is now available in various brands. Choose a battery brand that is guaranteed, both in name and quality. One characteristic of a quality battery brand is the presence of a warranty and after-sales service.

Buy from a Trusted Store

For peace of mind, buy batteries from a trusted store. There, you will find it easier to get a battery brand that is guaranteed in quality. A trusted store will also provide a warranty on every battery you purchase.

Avoid Buying Used Batteries

As much as possible, avoid buying used batteries. Used batteries will only damage your car's condition.

Which is better, dry or wet batteries, is a common question in the minds of car owners. Especially when considering which type of battery to use.

The discussion about dry and wet batteries has been covered above. Hopefully, it can answer the question of which battery is good for you.
