Many may still misunderstand the term KIR. KIR is not an abbreviation with an extended form. The term KIR itself comes from the Dutch language, derived from the word "Keur," which is commonly known in Indonesia as KIR.
The KIR test for cars is usually conducted every six months. Typically, you are required to undergo several test stages such as:

- Smok tester
- Play detector
- Headlight tester
- Side slip tester
- Axle road

Mandatory Requirements for KIR Car Testing (Latest 2024)
Currently, KIR testing can be done online for registration, but we still need to prepare the required documents physically.

Requirements for KIR Test Renewal

- Bring proof of KIR test payment.
- Bring the vehicle's STNK (make sure it is still valid).

1. Offline KIR Registration
Here are the steps for offline KIR registration.
- You can visit the nearest Transportation Agency from your residence. Then visit the registration counter and register yourself.
- Next, you will receive a schedule for the vehicle KIR test.
- After getting the testing schedule, immediately visit the testing unit with the required documents according to the regulations. Submit these documents to the officer.
- Next, you will undergo the testing process according to the regulations. Wait until the officer provides proof of passing the KIR test. Vehicles that pass the KIR test will receive a special KIR pass sticker.
2. Online KIR Registration
Next, there are several ways you can do for online registration.

- Fill in the data online completely such as PKB purpose, Province, and KIR test application, then click the register button.
- Then check the registration, enter the registration number, and then verify.
- Then pay the KIR test fee.
- Then conduct the KIR test on the vehicle and evaluate the results.
- Next, immediately print the test result document.
Via smartphone
- Download the official KIR testing application from the application download platform.
- Register your email address and phone number on the downloaded application.
- Next, select KIR test.
- Fill in the data with all vehicle information, personal data, and testing schedule, as displayed on the application completely. This data will be verified.
- Once you have been verified, you can directly visit the testing unit location.
- It's time for you to take the KIR test (make sure you follow the entire testing process). If you pass, the results will be sent via the application.
Latest KIR Test Costs for Cars 2024
How much does the KIR test for cars cost? Here is the latest KIR cost information for 2024:
1. Vehicle Costs
For sedan or trailer type cars, a fee of Rp18,000 will be charged. For pick-up type cars, a fee of Rp22,000 will be charged.
2. Testing Mark Costs
A fee of Rp9,000 will be charged for the testing mark. For trailer testing marks, a fee of Rp4,500 will be charged. For the cost of replacing a lost KIR book, a fee of Rp15,000 will be charged. And Rp25,000 for reattaching the mark.
3. Additional Costs
For other additional costs such as emission test books, painting, and administrative penalties, a fee of Rp10,000 will be charged for each additional cost.
4. KIR Renewal Costs
The renewal cost for KIR for sedans is Rp18,000. And for KIR costs for pick-up cars, a fee of Rp22,000 will be charged.
