Apa Saja yang Dicek saat Uji Emisi? Simak di Sini, Yuk!

Since 2023, emissions testing for motor vehicles has been implemented simultaneously in Jakarta and its surrounding areas. Checking the emissions of motor vehicles has a very positive impact on the environment as it can reduce air pollution. So, what is checked during the emissions test? For more details, please pay attention to the following review.

What is Checked During Emissions Testing?

What is checked during emissions testing is one of the questions frequently asked by the public. As is known, emissions refer to the exhaust gases of motor vehicles. These emissions contain several pollutants that can contaminate the environment and increase air pollution, such as carbon monoxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (Nox), hydrocarbons (HC), and particulates. If these pollutants are not reduced promptly, they can cause various health problems such as respiratory diseases.

Therefore, it can be concluded that during the emissions test, the testing party will check the levels of carbon monoxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (Nox), hydrocarbons (HC), and particulates according to the specified threshold limits.

According to the DKI Jakarta Governor Regulation (Pergub) No. 31 of 2008 regarding the Emission Threshold Limits for Motor Vehicle Exhaust, there are requirements that must be met by motor vehicles if they want to pass the emissions test. The requirements are as follows.

  1. Gasoline vehicles produced before 2007 must have CO2 levels below 30% and a maximum HC of 700 ppm.
  2. Gasoline vehicles produced after 2007 must have CO2 levels below 1.5% and a maximum HC of 200 ppm.
  3. Diesel vehicles produced before 2010 and weighing less than 3.5 tons must have lead or opacity levels of 50%.
  4. Diesel vehicles produced after 2010 and weighing 3.5 tons must have lead or opacity levels of 40%.

Why is Emissions Testing for Motor Vehicles Necessary?

As previously explained, the purpose of conducting emissions testing for vehicles includes reducing air pollution and environmental contamination. In addition, emissions testing for motor vehicles can also protect public health from respiratory diseases, allergies, or other cardiovascular diseases.

Emissions testing can also encourage innovation in the development of technology to create vehicle systems that can reduce emissions, which also impacts fuel efficiency.

Does Emissions Testing Have an Expiration Date?

When a vehicle passes the emissions test, the vehicle owner will receive proof in the form of a certificate of passing the emissions test. This certificate is valid for up to 1 year according to the provisions of Governor Regulation No. 66 of 2020.

What If the Motor Vehicle Does Not Pass the Emissions Test?

Vehicles that do not pass the emissions test will not be allowed to operate in areas designated by the environmental agency and the government. However, if your vehicle does not pass the emissions test, you need not be discouraged because you can still participate in the next emissions test.

To ensure your vehicle passes the next test, you can perform comprehensive vehicle servicing such as changing the engine oil, cleaning the spark plugs, and cleaning the air filter. Speaking of the best vehicle servicing, you can use the services of Daihatsu's official workshop
