Tubeless Tires Are Much Better Than Regular Tires?

One of the most important components of a vehicle is the tire. Moreover, its main function is crucial considering that the tire is directly related to the movement of the vehicle itself. Therefore, it is important for vehicle owners to choose the right tire. In general, tires can be divided into two types, regular tires and tubeless tires. The fundamental difference between the two is the presence or absence of an inner tube. Conventional tires consist of an outer tire and an inner tube, while tubeless tires do not.

Nowadays, especially cars have forgotten about conventional tires and prefer tubeless tires. However, it is good to know in detail about this type of tire that has become popular in society. Tubeless tires are considered to have advantages when stepping on nails or other sharp objects, making them less likely to deflate and able to be driven. Another advantage is that tubeless tires grip better and are more stable when cornering or maneuvering at high speeds. In addition, tubeless tires are also more resistant to punctures and stable at high speeds.

Because of these advantages, manufacturers are now increasingly using tubeless tires compared to conventional tires. In addition to other advantages, tubeless tires are tougher and do not easily deflate when used. Even when punctured, the tire can still be used to get to a repair shop. Indeed, behind their advantages, tubeless tires also have disadvantages. One of them is that they are relatively more expensive but worth the quality offered. Additionally, tubeless tires are considered to have a shorter lifespan compared to tubetype tires. Usually, tubeless tires last no more than a year.

Not only that, tubeless tires are also considered harder compared to regular tires. This occurs because their rubber structure is thicker and denser. Thus, when riders pass through damaged or uneven roads, tubeless tires are deemed capable of damaging the rims and causing the tires to wear out quickly over a certain period of use.

Another disadvantage is that tubeless tires can only be fitted to racing rims, while spoke rims can only be used for regular tires. Although there is now technology that can fit spoke rims with tubeless tires, it does not mean that the rims are suitable; rather, it is too forced.

Once you know the advantages and disadvantages of tubeless tires, it is also good to know how to maintain them. Especially since the maintenance of tubeless tires is essential to ensure that this type of tire lasts long and is durable. Here’s how to maintain tubeless tires. One of them is to conduct routine inspections to detect damage to the tires early. Additionally, do not overload your vehicle, especially with accessories that serve only as decoration.

Furthermore, you should also pay attention when the tire experiences a puncture; it is advised not to rush to seal it with glue. Because this step can cause permanent damage to the non-punctured surface, such as corrosion on the tire's scratch. Lastly, do not reduce the air pressure when the tire is still hot. Adjustments to the pressure can only be made when the tire is cold. Additionally, never force yourself to drive when the tire is flat.

Conventional Tires

  • Stronger for less good roads like in rural areas. This is due to the softer rubber structure.
  • More durable compared to tubeless tires, as they are made from fairly strong components.
  • Better maneuverability on the highway.
  • Cheaper price compared to tubeless tires.
  • Can be used on all types of tire rims.
  • Because there is an inner tube, regular tires are more prone to punctures.

Tubeless Tires

  • More comfortable to use on flat and smooth roads.
  • Still usable even when punctured by a nail.
  • Uncomfortable on wet, slippery, or damaged roads.
  • More expensive.
  • Can only be used on racing rims. If you want to install them on regular rims, a cover needs to be added to the spokes.
