This is How to Calculate Annual and 5-Year Car Tax

When you want to pay taxes, calculating the annual and five-year vehicle tax amounts is the best step. Besides not causing confusion about how much funds to prepare, you can also see the details of the costs that are charged.
In fact, the nominal calculation of vehicle tax is already available on the back of the Vehicle Registration Certificate (STNK). By looking at that information, it will be easier for you to make calculations.
The types of bills that must be paid by vehicle owners are PKB, BBNKB, SWDKLLJ, and others. Here is a more detailed explanation of the costs that include vehicle tax payments.
Motor Vehicle Name Transfer Fee (BBNKB)
The amount of the BBNKB fee applies to new vehicles or buyers of used cars who want to transfer ownership. The nominal amount is 10 percent of the invoice price for new cars, while for used cars it is 2/3 of the Motor Vehicle Tax.
However, it should be noted that this fee does not apply to annual and five-year tax payments.

Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB)
The motor vehicle tax rate has been established based on Regional Regulation number 2 of 2015 concerning amendments to Regional Regulation number 8 of 2010 concerning Motor Vehicle Tax. The amount of the vehicle tax is determined by the following two formulas.
PKB = Tax Base x tax percentage
PKB : NJKB x tax percentage
The Selling Value of Motor Vehicles (NJKB) is determined based on the general market price of a motor vehicle or the general market price in the first week of December of the previous tax year. The price data is obtained from various accurate sources.
SWDKLLJ
SWDKLLJ is the Mandatory Contribution for Road Traffic Accident Fund. The name of the vehicle owner registered on this STNK is automatically registered with Jasa Raharja insurance. For cars, the contribution fee is Rp 143 thousand.
STNK and TNKB Administration Fees
Administration fees are only charged when making a five-year tax payment that is also accompanied by the replacement of the STNK and vehicle license plate. In addition, this fee is also charged when you transfer vehicle ownership.
Calculating Annual Vehicle Tax
An easy way to calculate the annual vehicle tax is by looking at the total bill from the previous year. If you are still confused, you can use the annual tax calculation formula as follows.
PKB car: 2 percent of NJKB + SWDKLLJ.
For example, if you want to pay the tax for a Daihatsu Terios X MT with an NJKB of Rp 170 million. Then the calculation is Rp 170,000,000 x 2 percent + SWDKLLJ. Thus, the tax amount that must be paid is as follows:
PKB: Rp 3.4 million + Rp 143 thousand = Rp 3,543,000.
The annual vehicle tax that must be paid is Rp 3,543,000. It should be noted that this amount does not include penalties if there is a delay.
Calculating Five-Year Vehicle Tax.
In addition to the annual vehicle tax, you also need to calculate the five-year tax which is accompanied by the validation of the STNK and the replacement of the new plate. Specifically for this five-year tax, there will be additional costs outside of PKB and SWDKLLJ, which are the TNKB administration fee of Rp 100 thousand, STNK validation administration of Rp 50 thousand, and STNK issuance fee of Rp 200 thousand.
The calculation formula for this five-year tax is as follows.
PKB + SWDKLLJ + STNK validation fee + TNKB Administration Fee + STNK issuance fee.
How about that? It's not difficult to calculate the annual and five-year taxes, right? All the formulas and costs are listed, you just need to add them up. One important thing as a good citizen, make sure to pay your vehicle tax on time to avoid a penalty of 25 percent of the PKB.
