Do you have the habit of warming up your car before use? It turns out that not everyone does this habit. In fact, warming up your car before use has a positive impact on the vehicle.

This habit is performed to prepare the car perfectly before use. It can also keep the car's performance well maintained. However, what you need to know is the correct duration for warming up the car engine.

The Right Time to Warm Up Your Car Engine

Warming up the car before use will make the circulation of lubricants in the engine compartment more perfect to reach all corners of the engine. Proper lubrication will have a good impact on your car's engine components. Of course, this applies if you warm up the car for the right duration.

Some people believe that the longer the car engine is warmed up, the better its performance will be. However, this is not true. In fact, the longer you warm up the car, the more gasoline will be wasted. Additionally, excessive exhaust emissions from the car can be harmful to health.

The right time to warm up the car is about 10 to 15 minutes. This duration applies to regular cars. Meanwhile, cars with injection technology only need 30 seconds to 1 minute to warm up their engines. If you warm up the engine for too long, gasoline will be wasted.

You need to know that warming up for just 5 minutes can already keep the car's performance well and ready for immediate use. Warming up the car should only be until the engine reaches idle condition, where the RPM tends to drop and stabilize compared to when the car is first started in a cold state.

It only takes 5 minutes to ensure that the engine components are well lubricated with oil. Even so, you don't need to worry about oil not circulating properly. If you use oil that meets the manufacturer's specifications, its quality will certainly be good.

Generally, oil lubricants will remain attached to engine components even when the engine is off. After that, warming up the car until it reaches idle is enough to provide power to the alternator. Even the car battery will be recharged and can prevent symptoms of being drained.

You can tell when the car engine is ready to go or not. Usually, there is a temperature indicator on the dashboard. When it's ready to go, the needle will move to the middle position. Initially, it has a blue color, which will later change to red. This condition means your car is ready for a trip.

Warming up the car before use indeed plays an important role. It helps the oil reach the engine gaps for lubrication and can also reduce the potential for compression leaks. Therefore, don't forget to always warm up your car before you use it.

Of course, the duration for warming up the car engine should be around 10 to 15 minutes. Don't let it be too short or too long. This warming duration should be done consistently to keep your car's performance well maintained.

In addition, always check all components of your car before embarking on a journey to ensure the car feels safe and comfortable. Also, get useful information about car maintenance only on this page.
