How to Easily Adjust Car Wipers

1. Prepare the tools 

The tools needed to adjust car wipers are quite simple. You only need a 12mm wrench. This wrench is used to tighten and secure the wiper arm. 

2. Open the wiper arm cover 

The wiper arm cover is located at the bottom of the car wiper hinge. This cover serves to protect the locking bolt from water because it can oxidize and rust if frequently exposed to water. 

Immediately open the wiper arm cover by pulling it upwards. If using a wrench feels too difficult, you can use a (-) screwdriver to pry off the cover.

3. Loosen the wiper arm bolt 

Once the wiper arm cover is removed, you will see the locking bolt that is size 12. To adjust the wiper, loosen this locking bolt by turning it to the left or counterclockwise. Loosen it until the locking bolt is released and lift the bolt out. 

Don't forget to tap the bolt slightly to remove any dirt that may be stuck. Reinstall the bolt and tighten it enough according to your needs. 

Adjust the position of the wiper arm; if it is too high, lower its position slightly. If it is too low, raise it slightly from its place. 

If the position feels right, tighten the wiper arm bolt with the 12mm wrench by turning it to the right or clockwise. It should be noted that some types of wiper arms do not use locking bolts, but instead use other fasteners that can be removed simply by prying with a screwdriver. 

4. Test the car wiper settings 

Before adjusting the car wipers from inside the cabin, lift the wiper to make it touch the glass. This method can prevent damage to the car wipers. 

Turn the car wiper control and observe its movement. If the wiper can move normally and does not exceed the glass surface area, then the car wiper adjustment is correct, and turn off the control. 

If so, you just need to attach the car wipers to the glass and try turning the control once more. Close the wiper arm bolt cover, and the wipers can be used as intended. 

If the wiper settings feel off, you can repeat the third step to find the wiper range according to your needs.
