Easy Way to Set Odd-Even in Google Maps
In order to minimize traffic congestion, several major cities in Indonesia have now implemented an odd-even system during certain hours and on specific roads. This will certainly confuse every vehicle driver.
To that end, Google Maps is currently helping drivers to know which places implement the odd-even system. Below will be discussed how to set the odd-even system in Google Maps.
1. Open the Google Maps App on Your Smartphone
Before setting the odd-even system, the first thing you need to do is open the Google Maps app on your smartphone.
This app is a built-in application on every smartphone. However, if this app is not available on your smartphone, you can download it from the Play Store or Apps Store.
2. Enter Your Destination and Choose a Mode of Transportation
Just like using Google Maps in general, enter the place you are heading to. However, first make sure that the GPS system on your smartphone is turned on.
This is useful for determining your current location. When entering the destination address, you will be provided with an estimated name that matches.
After listing the destination, you can click the “Route” button on the bottom menu bar. The next step in setting the odd-even system in Google Maps is to choose which mode of transportation you will use.
You should know that in the Google Maps app there are several transportation mode options ranging from cars, motorcycles, public transportation, walking, and online vehicles.
3. Entering License Plate Settings
Actually, there are two ways to set the odd-even system on Google Maps. The first step is located at the bottom of the transportation mode options with the text “Avoiding odd plate roads” or “Avoiding even plate roads”.
If you click one of them, a choice will appear asking ‘will the user use an odd or even plate?’
If today’s date is odd and you are using a vehicle with an even plate number, Google Maps will show you the best route to avoid roads that implement the odd-even system.
The same goes for the opposite. The second way to set the odd-even system in Google Maps is by selecting the three-dot icon next to the “Your Location” menu.
Next, click “Route Option”. After that, a menu will appear with the options “You have an even plate number” and “You have an odd plate number”.
Choose one that corresponds to your vehicle's plate number and then click “Done”. Google Maps will automatically provide the best route for you to take.
4. Choosing a Route
The Google Maps app will also show two routes simultaneously for users of vehicles with even plates that are out on odd dates, and vice versa, where vehicle users will pass through several of the best routes selected by Google Maps.
The last way to set the odd-even system in Google Maps can be utilized to avoid or pass through this system.
This Google app has indeed been modified to help vehicle users find the best paths.
With the implementation of the odd-even system in several cities in Indonesia, Google Maps has released settings to know which roads implement this system.
