So, what are the functions of car brake pads? Here are the complete functions of this component:

1. Making Braking Easier

The first function is to make the braking system much easier. When making sudden stops, brake pads will help the driver avoid unexpected incidents. 

Later, the brake pads will press the disc brake and make the car's tires stop according to the depth of the pedal press.

Therefore, brake pads must be replaced periodically when they start to wear out. Ensure the brake pads are original, do not use fake brake pads.

2. Making Braking Control Easier

1. Squeaking Sound Heard

When should you replace brake pads? When you hear a squeaking sound while pressing the brakes, this is a common sign that the brake pads need to be replaced as they are starting to wear out. The sound resembles metal or iron friction. 

Why does this happen? The reason is that worn brake pads will leave behind their metal parts.

If this happens, the braking system is no longer affected by the pads, but by the metal parts. This is the cause of the squeaking sound when pressing the brake pedal. 

2. Brake Pedal Vibrates When Pressed

What happens if the brake pads are worn out? In addition to producing a squeaking sound, another sign is that the brakes vibrate when pressed.

This is usually caused by the brake pads being too thin, preventing the disc from gripping properly. 

As a result, you will feel vibrations on the brake pedal. Don't be mistaken, this vibration is not only felt on the brake pedal but also reaches the steering wheel if the condition worsens. 

3. Brakes Are Less Responsive

This sign is the most noticeable. Brakes that are less responsive are a clear indication of worn-out brake pads. This is caused by uneven pressure of the pads on the disc.

As a result, the brake surface area becomes smaller, and the braking force also becomes less effective, even though you are pressing the pedal very deeply. 

If the function of the brake pads has diminished, do not wait too long to visit a workshop and replace the brake pads of your car.
